So since this isn’t reddit and you’re all intelligent I’m going to be direct with this. Do you know about books like The Great Gatsby being banned in schools because it points out how awful aristocrats are? It’s the same situation in a videogame called Zenless Zone Zero.

In the first half of a story (1.6) they include the struggles of the lower class and a Robin Hood named Hugo that is willing to do anything for them and get revenge against the higher class that both raised and abused him (Moral Grey character). It’s not an edgy or silly story, they literally have a mother die so that her child can get support money she herself can’t provide.

In the other half (1.7, the half we’re protesting) all of these plot details are forgotten about. The classes of society are barely brought up, the story length is much shorter compared to before, scenes don’t make sense, random elements are thrown in, and Hugo is bound and locked in a garage until he admits that hating rich people makes him as bad as them. No I’m not joking it’s that disgusting. They invent a deus ex machina poison that acid trips him so hard he becomes ‘nice’. No longer morally grey, now he reports the bad guy from his abusive family to the police like a good little poor person should, because that certainly stopped Trump. Afterwards they force the story to end with a reused enemy for the boss fight. They want to end this story as fast as possible and throw it under the rug.

What happened here is that Hugo scared players who were rich or supporting of them, and in order to reel them back in Mihoyo (The company) decided to destroy OUR representation for them. If you compare the value they get from those that can buy every character from the gacha, and those that spend nothing, the difference is obvious. They didn’t want to lose their well-paying audience and so our voice was bought and silenced. It’s not ‘just’ a videogame if they bring up serious problems.

So I’m asking you to understand, and maybe sign or spread news of this petition to rewrite 1.7. Hugo can learn in a more natural way not to discriminate social classes, without getting dismissed and commanded. In a time where we are the victims of corrupt government ruled by corporate overlords I hope you can see why this silencing is a big deal, and that maybe this could be your chance to be heard. To fight your oppressors. Even if it’s not rewritten, I think it would still be a success if we were heard. If this moment was not forgotten.
