      That and “inflation” (read: greed inherent in capitalism) driving prices up beyond reason. Even when I have enough spare change for fast food, I save it and make food at home, it’s just not a good value proposition anymore. It used to be I saved enough in my own labor to justify paying a little bit but now it’s literally less expensive, even accounting for my own labor, to cook at home.

    fuck any recession, i’ve been avoiding all of it because the shit is fucking expensive. profit-maximizing disguised as inflation since 2020 has been stupid

    yah, no shit. the only major chain i still go to because you can at least find things that are affordable / not insanely expensive.
