It was also a colossal waste of money. The estimates in the article are way under the real figures. The community was largely opposed. It was just due to the arrogance and ego of the former VC that it was even a possibility. He couldn’t take no for an answer, and the new VC is having to slowly undo the damage.
Thistle kinda reminds me of the Wellywood shitstorm, with Wellington airport just hell bent on pushing it through against the will of the public.

Agreed that guy has screwed up so many senior management jobs. Used to be on our board and resigned after no one would accept his stupid take on a particular issue. How do these guys keep failing upwards.
