Well, I mean, I wouldn’t call selection based off of taste, meat-to-work ratio, nutrition, cultural association and literal breeding purposes (ie: breeding dogs for hunting but chickens for food) ‘arbitrary’.
Also, yea, cats would not be confused. Too many stories of them just eating their owners face almost immediately after death.
