She said left-wing criticisms are “because we haven’t really had a political presence like this in the United States before” and her critics are “bewildered” by the prospect of being in power.
On the one hand, there’s some truth to the western left tending to have a more aspirational, than real, relationship with power. On the other hand, this is some narcissistic read of history implying that no one with even pseudo left positions has ever been an elected representative in the US before, much less “had a political presence” (guess the Black Panther Party never existed). And leaves out the fact that she doesn’t have power herself as a “left” figure in any meaningful way. She’s a single congressperson who supposedly cares about “left” causes but is more interested in talking down to them than organizing with them. It’s the stuff of concern trolling, basically.
She is so fake. She will only do interviews with controlled media outlets, like the NYT, that are funded by the neo-libs (USAID, etc.) I have seen independent interviewers trying to interview her on the street and she won’t talk to them, or screams they are harassing her, or being sexist or whatever woke ideology she weaponizes. She is trying to be the next Nancy Pelosi.
