I keep hearing that the economy is hurting here in FL, but everything looks like business as usual where I live, no signs of consumerism slowing down, the prices have gotten a bit high but not too crazy, Disney still seems to be pretty packed from what I’ve seen. Orlando is my local news region and WFTV is my usual local station, owned by Disney, so they would have reported on any drastic drops in park goers, and it’s not like Disney lowered their park prices after years of consecutive price raises in an effort to control the amount of park goers each day (and make more money obviously).
As far as I can tell the only thing this stuff is doing to us in Florida is driving out my fellow Lefties, making teachers quit, move, or retire, my county alone still has over 200 teaching openings still with the school year just around the corner. This is embarrassing us nationally and globally, and is generally making people here in FL seem more and more hateful, a lot of people seem to have stopped hiding their entitlement and bigotry and just lash out at whoever they can, albeit service worker or otherwise, and it’s just making for a shitty place to live, and my family is from Queens, so we’ve got plenty of experience with shitty entitled people being rude and bigoted.
What the GOP doesn’t seem to understand, or care about, is that Florida’s reputation is absolutely dog shit now, it was bad before, but it wasn’t “Texas” bad, DeSantis is a pathetic failure of a governor and I hope this state can bounce back once he’s out of office.
Great points to make. Thanks for the prospective. I don’t enjoy Florida’s vibe when I go down there so it’s helpful hearing from someone actually down there. My thought on this is that this is the lump on your side you noticed in the mirror. It won’t kill em today, but its definitely a sign of the end.

Of course they would have!
