Literally every single reddit alternative that isn’t decentralized has been continuously shooting itself in the foot, it’s crazy. The issues with lemmy have been relatively minor compared to others

Lemmy is doing a bit of shooting, too, just not quite in this manner. I’d say Lemmy’s issues (non technical ones) are more more to do with how some of it is designed, and with it’s community management. They’re simmering just under the surface. Not a problem yet but it’s likely they will be a flashpoint one day soon .

!!! I am using this free speech platform to tell you all that I’m moving to Discuit.net. I will be moving all bots to that platform as well, though there may be some delay on adapting new API as I’m about to go on vacation. I have talked to the dev and they have had a strict TOS since early on. For those who stay, thanks! You guys rocked. If I wanted a “free speech” (heavy quotes) platform, I would have gone to Gab, Parler, 4chan, Twitter, Truth Social, 8chan, 8Kun, Kbin, Beehive or Fediverse.

Wait we actually have freeze peach here? Aren’t we also actually moderated lmao (except for that tankie instance but they typically get defederated anyway)

Fuck this guy for lumping the Fediverse with the other crap.

This person has absolutely no idea what they fuck they’re talking about. Presuming they meant Beehaw, it’s the polar opposite.

This is a terrible look for Squabblr. An admin resigning due to personal differences can be explained away as no big deal, but the site owner removing two good admins and replacing them with one that sees things their way is provocative.

It’s especially provocative because you were the one fielding questions and stating that the site would not tolerate hate or bigotry. Now you’re out and suddenly the primary concern is free speech? That thing that applies to governments, and with which people who speak things nobody wants to hear are obsessed?

Why is it so hard for them to understand “free speech” and “establishing a neutral platform” is not the same thing.

Yes, a neutral, open platform that does not pre-judge is how you grow a social network. That does not mean you have to declare “FREE SPEECH” at the top of your page and advertise that you’ll let people say anything.

      Here’s a helpful guide.

“Free and open platform”: politely discuss a wide range of topics like normal adults

      “FrEe SpEaCh”: Nazi shithole

can we post there and direct them to Lemmy?

I mean sure, you can do whatever you want. It’s a (mostly) free internet.
