We can construct buildings that reduce atmospheric CO₂ by more than their lifetime emissions. They now don’t cost much more – and a project involving 1.2 million homes would drive costs down further.

The national cabinet has announced plans to build an extra 1.2 million homes by July 1 2029.

What if we committed to building homes that produced net negative emissions? Put simply, such buildings remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than are emitted during their lifecycle.

Building these homes in Australia would do much more than reduce national emissions.

Building airtight homes - known as a tight building envelope - avoids unwelcome heat gain or loss.

Examples of buildings with low, zero or negative net emissions already exist in the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Building 1.2 million homes that use such technology would scale it up, driving down costs.

Building all of the promised 1.2 million homes in a future-friendly way would show our governments recognise both the long-term imperative of climate action and this immediate opportunity.

      This guy is a disingenuous asshole.
      Talking about the whole life cycle of an electric car, but only mentioning the tail pipe emissions of an ICE car.
      Comparing the greenhouse emissions of a house to a car, but not mentioning that this is based on the type of technology used to generate the power used at the house.
      Pretending that the government can’t do 2 or more things at a time, such as change the grid AND subsidize electric cars. The whole condescending tone at the end where he conflates veganism and EV ownership as some purely performative nonsense for the naive.

      The whole demeanor is designed to make “the libs” angry, which in turn is supposed to please conservatives who come away with the vague notion that continuing to drive ICE SUV’s is not only ok, but somehow preferable because politicians are liars!

      He might be advertising Olight, but what he’s apparently selling is outrage.

        He’s not wrong, and going by the comment you didn’t watch a lot of that or his other content, he’s an engineer which some of what you said is covered in the video while the rest he has covered at length in other videos.

        He’s style is the entertainment, tbh if you cant laugh at the comedy of it, then I’m sad for you life has to be so serious.
