Do you hate having your picture taken because
a) You’re privacy-conscious
b) You have something to realize about yourself that will change your entire life, how other people see you, how you see yourself and how you feel
deliberate pause to allow the realization to set in
OR
c) both
Bro I’m just ugly.
No
Same
No
a.
If I’m with older friends, I don’t mind photos.
My younger friends will put every pic they take on Facebook, geotag it, and tag my face with my full name so Meta can add my face, location history, and social graph to my shadow profile.
This is my actual worst nightmare hands down. just the thought that if someone would try to dox you in that scenario, your totally done for.
Most of my friends know how serious I am with that and wouldn’t dare, because they know damn well I would let hell rain down on them
I don’t like being unknowingly associated with something or anything that could get me into trouble in the future. I have no idea what will happen during my lifetime and it doesn’t even have to be from the government of my home country.
It’s b) for me since, I’m awfully not photogenic and hate looking at myself in photos. Probably a lot of you can relate as well.
Let’s just say that there’s like two photos of me from the last fifteen years that I don’t hate
Sounds about right.
I just hate cameras and how I look in pictures, I’m just more self-consious than anything
d) It means I see myself how other people see me and that scares me.
The mirror is both a helpful and an unsettling item, isn’t it
I’m starting a new job and was told that they’ll want a picture of me and a short intro to send company wide. I will throw a fit about that.
The company I’m leaving also wants a short video from me to wish someone well on their retirement. Not going to be happening.
Yeah no, I wouldn’t want to do that either. What’s even the point?
That reminds me, I recently applied at a place that explicitely states full GDPR compliance in everything they do, but at the same time is a Google Partner
I found that to be quite amusing
D) both and i always manage to close my eyes when someone takes a photo of me
C.
I need a proper eating disorder and not the compulsive one.b) It just feels bad having someone photograph something about me which I hate
Same
gestures across my face
b) except i already know
You’re a celeste speedrunner, aren’t you
not a good one lmao, i can barely get sub hour
That’s already so impressive
is Celeste correlated with this? asking because I played it a couple months ago and ._.
The protagonist of Celeste is trans, which was a nice conclusion to the story after the developer of the game realized she was trans.
Full disclosure, I never played much of the game, but this is what I know about it.
So it’s quite an iconic game in the trans community, and an absolute meme at this point, too
I like to joke that I can’t be trans because I failed to complete the very first level
ah, I see. I was aware that Madeline was trans, but I didn’t know it was such a widespread meme. one quick search and actually, that explains a lot. like the mirror temple and such
Sorry for dumping my thought process for the last five minutes lol
I like to joke that I can’t be trans because I failed to complete the very first level
what does still struggling halfway on farewell make me ಠ_ಠ
what does still struggling halfway on farewell make me ಠ_ಠ
I don’t even know what farewell is or means
oh, chapter 9 the space one
I assume it’s a particularly hard level?
Neither, being picture shy is kinda dumb. Just let me know so I don’t look too goofy lol
No can do, candid camera is best camera
Maybe I wouldn’t hate it if I actually liked how I looked. But I don’t, that face in the mirror is just some guy I don’t feel overly connected to
b / just ugly / not photogenic
b.
I reckon it’s answer c) for me
same
Who “gets their picture taken”? Like at the end of a school year? Or do you mean family photos, or just social media photos in general?
Also I don’t understand b). Like the sentence at all.
I hate my photos being online because my name is pretty unique and if some local newspaper has the pic in it, you WILL find my face within seconds of a Google image search.
Just photos in general, yeah.
Answer b) is just an overly subtle play on how trans people who may not have realized they’re trans yet oftentimes seem to hate photos.
