I kept the account because there are still a couple of people I stay in touch with. But this week I noticed I dropped from about 450 followers to 110. I searched the accounts and those people’s accounts are still there. They just dont follow me any more. I gently asked a couple of them if I’d done/said something to upset them as we’d been talking on good terms. They all said they’d not unfollowed me, but one said Elon’s changed it so if you’re not constantly tweeting to people he’ll break off those connections.
Also this week I have tweeted about 10 times. The usual photos of scenic places around my home town, general discussion topics. But the analytics say 1-2 views. Nobody replies, they used to, and now I feel like one of those old folk who wait for their kids to call.
Am I now expected to pay a small fortune just to engage with others on the platform? This is not something I’m going to do.
Twitter has shown it does not care what you or the people who were following you want.
It is no longer a place to communicate with the people you chose.
It seems all loose adverts for things I neither want nor need
