  • I work with boomers that were given everything, house with the job or a council house and the right to buy, final salary pensions, free education, free prescriptions, publicly owned utilities, a path to progress up the pay scale and they voted it all away when it was my generations turn to benefit.

    Plenty of money for their generation, but now it’s our turn and suddenly the money is gone. This is the generation that struts about telling us that we don’t know how good we have it, sitting in their paid off houses that cost 3-5x the average salary whilst we pay £1000pm to the slumlord, triple locked pensions whilst we suffer real term pay cuts.

    There’s never been a greedier, more selfish, entitled generation than the boomers. The first generation in history to leave the world worse off than when they inherited it.

    Fuck them.

  • Who cares? I just need to get the construction in under budget so that I can get my end of year bonus, this will all be some other idiots problem soon enough.

    Another pile of shit that we’ve inherited from fucking boomers who’ve failed to invest adequately in their children’s futures because they were more interested in a quick buck for themselves. The most entitled generation in human history and the first to leave the planet in a worse stat than which they found it in.

  • If we’re going to talk to eachother like we’re cunts;

    I wish I could return to a time where I was so naive, the world was a magical place!

    I’ll ask again since you avoided the question. Do you have any idea how much lifted weight would be required to power a nation through a few days of no wind?!

    Hint: A metric shit tonne would not even be a scratch on the required amount. Where are you going to source that sort of weight, leave alone infrastructure required to repeatedly lift and lower it?

    I’ll tell you once again, I’m well aware of hydro pumped storage, its abilities and its short comings. I work as an electrician on a hydro scheme, FFS, you dumb twat.

    A weight you could lift and drop to power your own house alone through a few days of no power in itself would be an extremely impressive system and you want to power every house in the nation and all its industry with that concept? It’s time to get a grip on reality and share what ever drug you’re on with me because its obviously some really good shit.

  • Don’t you love it when you get heavily downvoted but no-one is brave enough to challenge your point of view?

    I mostly agree with you. Solar is good if you own a house, with a roof and have thousands in disposable cash to invest, but that’s not most people.

    Heat pumps can’t be run on your solar power alone and if your house isn’t well insulated, they can be extremely inefficient, ending up costing you substantially more than sticking with gas or oil. And that’s not getting in to the other short comings of heat pumps which I believe is a separate debate.

    As many people in this thread have said, the best time to invest in nuclear was thirty years ago, but the next best time is now. Give us tonnes of cheap, carbon free electricity to throw in to a heat pump and then they make sense.

  • In Britain, if you take something off the shelf and then decide you don’t want it, you put it back rather than just dropping it on the floor.

    Despite their being no punishment for being a dirty, lazy bastard. Nor a reward for being tidy and considerate for the people that come after you, it’s basic self governance that makes things nicer for everyone.
