Haven’t seen s2 so can’t comment on that but aside from the emperor(s) storylines s1 was just awful in my view. Didn’t make sense, very incoherent, just badly written…and that’s without comparison to the books. I listened to the podcast related to the show and it’s clear the show runner has a vision that strongly contrasts with what I like in sci-fi

Honestly, the insistence that Lemmy has better discussions than Reddit. Mostly even popular posts have too few comments to constitute any in depth discussion. I won’t be going back to Reddit but I miss the vibrancy.

The way you describe Ubuntu as asking you to do more under the hood, and you seeing it as adjusting settings, really rings true to me. Often I find myself frustrated at having to jump through so many hoops to do simple stuff. I like learning to use Linux but sometimes I just don’t have the time for it

When I decided to set up my own server my only Linux experience was experimenting with regular Ubuntu. So Ubuntu server was the closest thing to it, and I figured I would have to re-learn fewer commands. It’s also been my impression that because a lot of inexperienced folks like me start with Ubuntu, that’s where the most beginner-friendly instructions are likely to be. I didn’t really know what Debian was.

As an Ubuntu user I feel called out. But the callout is also fair… I am conflicted. Is it a mitigating factor that it’s a headless server?

I can’t find the video I got them from. But they were very standard. Looking online for exercises that cover the neck, back, shoulders, arms and knees ought to get you there. I suspect anything will do as long as we stick to it for more than a week or two (easier said than done)

I used to have this problem. For me the main fix was making sure I ate enough fish and got my daily need for omega 3 fatty acid. An added improvement came a few months later when I started doing daily stretches and flexibility exercises.

After the first season, which was an obligatory “Star Trek Type Show Finds Its Feet” season, it really hit its stride to become the best Star Trek since DS9. Not in name, but certainly in spirit. So earnest, with a great message throughout. Sure it had some mediocre jokes here and there but so did TNG, let’s not forget. I was sitting around just the other day thinking how I missed watching The Orville

Windows 11 also does that. You have to jump to the command line and do some stuff mid-install to get it to install without an internet connection. Boggles the mind

I wouldn’t say I have a particularly positive self image but I guess I grew too old to keep caring so much about what people think of me in social situations. We’re all just trying to get by and doing our best. And when it comes to my art, my thinking has slowly transformed to “why should I have any less right to people’s attention than anyone else?”
