It just means having to micromanage a particular unit’s actions. I like it more when I can say “patrol this area, return fire and advance a bit if necessary, but no further than this”, instead of having to flip back to those units constantly to manage them. IMO it’s more thematic anyways for a sci fi game, you’re probably going to have units with a basic AI in them in-universe.
I recently checked out BAR and liked it. I don’t like micro in RTS games, because I always think “a computer can do this better than I could”, so it’s nice that they’ve got good unit automations available.
F-droid is good like the other comment suggested. Aurora store is good for anything not available on F-droid.
One thing you can do is track what network connections apps are making with something like https://f-droid.org/packages/com.emanuelef.remote_capture/. It won’t help if the OS really wants to do malicious things, but you can monitor your apps at least
If you’re not using a custom ROM, you’re leaking info like a sieve to OnePlus. I moved to LineageOS because the default OS was sending every app you opened and when to the mothership. Even if they’ve stopped that, they’ve got every incentive to suck you dry, and you’ll spend much more time fighting your OS than if you just switch to a different one.
This site is specific to AWS, but you might find it helpful:
Looks like it got bought out by someone, so might be enshittified, but it’s worked nicely for me in the past.
Definitely my wife. She likes to remind me though that I shouldn’t just rely on her, and should socialize more. When one’s spouse dies, men tend to die quite quickly after their wife dies, because men aren’t good at making new friends or keeping up with existing ones over time. Women tend to be much better at both of those. Kind of macabre, but she’s not wrong.
I liked the theory that @PugJesus@kbin.social posted when I mentioned horseshoe theory:
Jenkem is a helluva drug
Horseshoe theory strikes again
What a shitheel. They’re trying to justify imperialism with realpolitik, but they’re not even doing a good job of it. The third option is that other countries help out Ukraine against a crazed imperialist. It won’t be easy, but right now, Ukraine retaining its sovereignty looks actually likely.
I think lemmy.world turned off image uploads while they work on mitigating some attacks.
Use Fastmail, and you can have masked email addresses that come in like regular email. You can look at the “To:” line to tell where the email was sent to, but the title remains the same.
What advantages does that have over this?
Never going to happen. Even if something was signed, everyone would just develop the tech secretly. It’s not like nukes where you need large, special equipment like refineries that investigators can track, and special ores. If you’ve got some nerds with nice graphics cards, you’re off to a good start. Getting more advanced is easy if you produce your own chips, and looks the same as regular consumer demand to anyone suspicious.
Thank you 🙇
Sorry for the Reddit link but lemmy.world’s not letting upload images and I’m on mobile so don’t want to transcribe this, but just imagine the person you’re arguing with is like this:
The original, I think. Poor ME. You weren’t a good OS.
Security is a gradient that depends on your threat model, etc, but unless you’re being targeted by a nation-state or something that should be plenty secure
I haven’t read it before, but I’ve been interested. I think I’ll bump it up the queue. I’ve been interested because of this song that quotes from it:

Hexbear in a nutshell. They externalize their self-hatred onto others because it’s easier than actually fixing themselves
