I’ll give it 1 hour after launch
The comments here is basically the weirdest conversation I’ve seen about him, basically everyone either defending or criticising him is just getting upvoted and not downvoted.
I don’t think stream clips that are cut to show the opposite of the opinion he was expressing are helpful, he’s done plenty of actual bad shit like sexual harassment and saying slurs that we can criticize him for.
Taking someone saying, “you can come up with a hypothetical situation where [bad thing] would result in more good than harm, but it’s still bad because of x, y, and z reasons.” And cutting it to them saying “[bad thing] would result in more good than harm” just gives people ground to defend him.
That would require acknowledging that something could be more important than their inflated sense of ideological purity.
I didn’t bother checking since I just put back the larger drive once I got the new one. I doubt they did, they said to remove any accessories / SD card otherwise I might not get them back, so I doubt they’d do a data transfer.
You just want to make sure to take out the ssd you bought and put back in the original one. Or if you didn’t replace it, just back stuff up.
Yep, I had to get mine replaced and they gave me no issues. You’ll probably just get sent a replacement, so make sure to take out the 1tb drive.
It might work if the fine was a couple hundred billion, we can give them a payment plan.
100% but Microsoft and Google splitting 50 - 50 would be better than the current Google 90 - 9.9 - 0.1 it currently is.
Yeah, people got distracted by trying to figure out how it worked instead of just using it like they would any other service. I think people shouldn’t have pushed the federated angle as hard. It’s great, but most people don’t care about it as much as other stuff. It probably would have had a bit better user retention if it was explained with it.
That being said, mastodon is significantly more complicated than the average service people use. To someone not super tech savvy, it makes sense that it could be enough to push them away. Anyone can get used to it fairly quickly, but any fiction pushes a ton of people away.
As an example, I work for a company that does web stuff, We changed dropdowns with few options to a multi-select menu component and saw like a 20% increase in the number of people completing the form.
Yes, US, early 20s, drove one until recently when I had to get a new car.
Yeah, my desktop is just basically a place for a picture, can’t stand having anything on it
Have you read your entire car manual? Mine’s like 200 pages, no way I’d remember everything even if I did read all of it. It’s best used as a refefence when you need to do something.
Aegis is a great Foss totp app
That makes sense, I whish I could do the same. HP was what got me into reading and I met quite a few friends at HP themed summer camps and stuff. I just have a hard time separating art from artist, as I’m enjoying it there’ll be something that reminds me of jkr’s gross views and it pulls me out.
Yeah, but a ton of people don’t know that, which is what she said.
Sexual assault and stealing and selling one of a kind prototypes is a bit more serious than just drama.
She was getting a lot of harassment from ltt fand and was scared of making it worse. Also, she was under the impression she was under an NDA thst prevented her from speaking out.
