  • I often think that when people talk about peaceful protest, they use the broadness and ambiguity of the word “”“peaceful”“” to clamp down on any actual protest. The civil rights movement was non-violent, and if non-violence is your standard for peaceful, than it’s peaceful. Conservatives however see anything illegal happening in a protest, and even though there was lack of violence, will say “they did something illegal, therefore it isn’t peaceful”. Civil disobedience, that is illegally not following an unjust law, must be practiced for non-violent protest to be effective. Over the years conservatives have managed to make it seem as if the civil rights movement won by just passively picketing buildings.

By the way, It’s a matter of semantics sure, but sometimes, semantics can be very important, especially if you want to make a very specific point.

  • Bro, Imma be honest, as a nicotine addict, I wouldnt encourage anyone get on it. You start seeing nicotine as a stimulant that you “need” to get through difficult tasks, or tasks that need focus, or shit, maybe you even need to game a bit better because you’re sleep deprived(caused by the nicotine) and having an extra stimulant alongside some caffeine might help. You start using it to get through stuff, and then because of withdrawals, that “”“”“justifies”“”“” your use of it to get through stuff even more. Not to mention nicotine’s bad effects on your gum health and cardiovascular health.

By the way, for anyone reading this, fuck vaping. Harder to quit than smoking because a lot of people get nicotine salt disposables, or their mental process when in withdrawal/craving phase is “oh it’s just vapor, not smoke which is carcinogenic, one more hit couldn’t hurt”. Which is true, smoke, tar, combustion, etc is the main cancer causing part of nicotine, but thinking of it like that doesn’t help you quit.

Don’t smoke, don’t vape. Longest I’ve lasted is a month so far, and that’s because I threw my little nic salt pen and carts away.

Edit Addendum: Btw, this is typed by a mofo who is still vaping, I relapsed. I fell into that same line of logic above. “I need it to get through work” type shit

  • You are treating a written product the same as a commodity. The success of a creative work isn’t assured and fixed like a commodity is, basically working like fiat. So a piece of writing can either make very little money or a bunch. The initial cost of creating a show would be so much higher if writers were paid based on what the script is “worth”, since there is no real metric for show success and writers would probably just charge up the wazoo to be able to survive long enough till their next gig. This would probably also decrease creative quality, and you’d probably have shittier shows because of this.
