  • These people all work for what seems like huge (video game) businesses. It’s a pretty entitled position to say results aren’t the most important thing. The fact is, they are. If you want the freedom to do things your own way at your own pace, go make your own indie game. I guarantee these “journey over results” types would end up with feature creep and never ship a finished product though.

On the coding side, I’m a senior dev who has been in the industry for 20 years. Not video games but for the web. Easily 40% of the code I ship now is AI written. I’ll use a different AI to review my PRs saving my coworkers time catching the little mistakes I overlooked.

I’ve cut days off my workload over the past year and to say all AI is slop is being intentionally obtuse to the tools. Basically we’ve all been promoted to manager roles and LLMs are the mid level workers we oversee.

This article is trying to paint a picture that these tools are without value and I can feel your finger hovering over the downvote button but the fact is the genie is out of the bottle. They’re not going away and today is the worst they’ll ever be. People that say they’re slower with these tools are going to get left behind by people who are proficient with them.

  • Rewatchability plays a huge part in what I consider a favorite. Notice this list is missing some heavy hitters like the Godfather movies. I don’t consider this list to be the best movies of all time but favorites as in, what have I watched the most and am most excited to watch again or what just hit right at the right time in my life.

Casino Royale hit just right for me. In the 90s with Goldeneye (the game and the movie) and Tomorrow Never Dies turned me into a huge Bond fan. Then world is not enough and die another day were huge disappointments.

I watched layer cake and was amped when I heard he was getting cast for Bond and this one was going to be directed by Martin Campbell and written by Paul Haggis (pretty controversial figure now but at the time I loved the movie Crash). Going into all of this I had pretty high expectations and it exceeded it. The most I ever seen a movie in theaters was twice. For Casino Royale I went six times. I just wanted to show it to everyone I knew.

It spawned my favorite Martini and Bond Girl (Vesper) my favorite scene in the franchise (the two sizing eachother up on the train), introduced me to some of my favorite actors (Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen and Jeffrey Wright) and to this day it’s something I watch at least once a year. There’s just not an ounce of fat on this movie.

  • I like mine. The battery leaves a lot to be desired but I do use it quite a bit. The coolest feature for me (I know this is standard for all smart watches), I’m frequently wearing an earbud. When someone calls I can check the caller ID on my wrist, accept it and start talking without touching my phone (sometimes it’s in another room).

I like it for runs and the health tracking features are really good. I wish they’d come up with a better layout for picking an app. It’s just a really long list. Something more like Apple’s watch app grid.

If you get one on sale I’d recommend it, or just wait to see what the 2 has to offer
