Whaaaat noooo. Silly. The dev should just cater to people with money or quit their source of income and be happy… Or something?

I don’t know about doing good or harm but I’ve used sync for reddit for years and years. The dev isn’t some big corporation and that’s generally enough for me. I’ll support them as long as their app has the experience that I prefer. I tried a few different apps until sync came out and I really gave them all a fair shot but none of them felt right. The fact that so many users bailed to Lemmy because Reddit broke third party apps and then turned around and got up people’s butts for using specific third party apps is kind of hilarious to me. A huge wave of users came here for sync etc and people are trying to push them away or bully them like reddit did? They might not be bullying for the same exact reason but it’s got the same vibe imo.
Not every state in the US is the same so your comment is mostly based on smug ignorance anyway. It’s not paranoia if you live in a city with a lot of crime etc. You just wanted to try and feel superior. Giving me reddit vibes tbh.
I just wanted to look up blueberry waffles but I was derping hard and couldn’t remember the word for blueberries… I was an adult at that point but just imagine a kid doing that on accident iykyk 💀
Not giving your kids access to the internet at all is insane. You’re setting them up for failure by not actively teaching them how to navigate the Internet and what bs to look out for. Anyone that does this is just trying to indoctrinate their kid and prevent them from being exposed to any other ideas. The ego on parents that think they know enough to entirely prepare their kids for the world is ridiculous. Especially these days. You’re just setting them up to be behind when they’re older and they’ll resent you while they struggle to catch up.
I dunno… A lot of the newer gens didn’t have to tinker with everything to get it to work so they’re less familiar with the ins and outs of stuff. Not to say they all are because it’s silly to generalize that many people but many of them grew up with this stuff. Just like how I couldn’t tell you how a TV works or fix one but I’ve built all my own pcs. That happened naturally because I had to learn it early on to have a computer. That being said they definitely seem to be developing a unique skill set for navigating the internet and social media as a whole. I’ve noticed they’re a lot less likely to trust a generic Google search or various articles online. I guess when you’re raised around bullshit you’re gonna end up more critical of it. This is mostly about gen z of course and maybe younger millennials. Gen alpha is feral and weird we should all be worried lmao
I was more of a lurker for much of my time on Reddit but I find myself commenting and upvoting a lot more here because I genuinely want to contribute. I should probably just sack up and start actively posting on the few small communities I’d like to see grow tbh
You don’t. You don’t understand the frustration. You’re not part of this you’re just a casual observer with an opinion formed from the outside.
Easy is subjective. The choice is obvious but having to vote for someone you know doesn’t represent most of us isn’t easy. It’s a hard thing that we have to do. Nobody is thinking about what option to vote for here. We’re grieving the decision that’s already been made for us because there’s no acceptable alternative. But thanks for your contributions. It’s always so very helpful when people that don’t even live our lives roll up to state the obvious.
Money makes people think they’re special which of course means they can’t have lowly common poor people names. To the absolute detriment of their kids. I would be livid if I got some of the stupid ass names these people are cursing their children with I stg
I also saw a lot of posts from people that just had issues even getting logged in or with opening the app itself. Honestly it’s embarrassing for such a large company to look so incompetent.
We’re living longer and aging slower than ever before now
I fully understand roughly what 1/5 of a mile would be without any effort. That sounds perfectly reasonable and recognizable for me and I doubt I’m alone. It’s because it’s the system I use. Yours works for you because you’re familiar with it. That’s all there is to it.
Yeah, no. Knowing a different measuring system isn’t gonna make me suddenly want to know the nitty-gritty details of things. The way water volume/use is measured in the US has nothing to do with how much people understand their water bill. If I really wanted to I’d just find something online to help me convert. Which I’d probably do on the other system because that’s just reality. You know those things because you care about them or were interested not because you use what you consider to be a superior system of measurement lol. You guys really try hard to make it seem like a way bigger deal than it is.
Welcome to the club. I can’t even deal with recipes from other countries because I don’t have a kitchen scale lol
Don’t be ridiculous not all women are gonna want your ratchet 40k hand painted figures. Some of us have class and want d&d hand painted figures.
It’s so much fun I’m so happy it’s finally here 😭😭😭😭😭
It’s kinda great though isn’t it? Reminds me of old times. Do you think we’ll relive the android vs iOS wars soon? Oh, omg… Have we done the grilled cheese vs melt thing here yet???
