  • Oh, I know it’s anecdotal. I also know others have issues with the Pixel 6 and 7 getting really hot.

Yep… fully aware of some saying their devices are getting hot. My Pixel 6 Pro got hot exactly once while navigating here in LA. Not sure what caused it, but it was hot to the point that I had to hold it to one of the ac vents. My 7 Pro got only slightly warm occasionally and I’m having similar experiences with the Fold. Not to say that it’s a normal thing, but it’s hot to the extent that others have experienced.

It’s like the fingerprint sensor complaint. I could repeatedly get my prints to register without fail when some others were having issues. I’m almost worried that Google is switching to an ultrasonic sensor instead of optical because I haven’t had the same luck with the ultrasonic sensor that Samsung used in the S21 Ultra and S23 Ultra. I dunno. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Anyhow, hope that your next phone, Pixel or otherwise, treats you better.

  • Probably not the right phone for you. Battery life in my experience has been average for me. Not great, but not awful either.

Reviews and personal experiences have been all over the place regarding the battery from what I’ve seen in reviews, social media, and forums. It just depends. The Pixel 7 Pro’s battery has been about the same as the 14 Pro Max that I had, but worse than the 13 Pro Max. Better than the Pixel Fold that I’m using, but not as good as the Pixel 4 XL. For sure better than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from back in the day, but not as good as my HTC 10. Definitely not as good as the Pixel 5, but better than the Pixel 6 Pro. And so forth and so on…

Depends on my personal usage, but I’m on my phone constantly. For me, battery has been middle of the road.

  • Boatloads of cash at a young age, family and friends wanting and pestering, the physical toll the game takes on your body for years, the stress of being a taking point of the sport worldwide, and having to be on your A-game mentally, physically, and emotionally 24/7 for your entire career. Yeah… no thanks. Hell, I didn’t grow up until I was 27. I get stressed wondering if the dinner I’m cooking will turn out ok.

I hope he takes all the time he needs to get himself where he wants to be… even if that means retirement. I’m surprised that more super-duper NBA stars don’t retire even before they start to decline. I mean after 5-6 years or so. How much more do you need when you’re already set?
