The US is a huge and diverse country, and you cannot make ANY generalizations that will apply to everything. You are right that “easy” isn’t the right word, but there are places where it is possible.
I guess my original point was that there are communities that are starting to prioritize mixed use buildings and it IS at least possible now. I’m not sure there was much new build that would fit this criteria in the 80’s or 90’s.
It’s not “common” per se, but if you wanted to live above the store you owned, as the poster was talking about, it would be easy to do so in the United States today.
I live in a town in the west that is a population of about 13,000 but is well within the Seattle metropolitan area.
All of the new build in the city is apartment buildings with commerce on the street level. Sure there are miles and miles of suburbs around the city but downtown is all mixed use for new builds.
I shut mine off a while back when I was sure they were advertising stuff based on things we were talking about in the same room. We were discussing moving the chairs out of the office and the next time we went to play music she wanted to sell us new ones.

I remember an old anecdote from sometime around 2005, that Microsoft did a survey to see what features people wanted added to the Office suite, of the top 10 requested features, 8 were already in the products and the users didn’t know about them.
The whole suite was bloated with stuff most people didn’t need, or at least very rarely needed, but no one wanted to take time to take a class on Excel, or read patch notes, or whatever.
Another along those lines is John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War. Humans are at about the same technological level as the other races in that series.

This is the main reason. People are confusing the protocol (USB 2.0/3.0) with the connector (USB C/Lightning). Apple slapping a different connector on the phone isn’t changing the underlying technology inside the phone. People claiming that USB-C must mean 3.0 are just spreading FUD in order to shit on Apple again.
And, as others in this thread have pointed out, high speed transfers by cable are low priority for phone users, there are much better tools to do that, like maybe an external hard drive.
That makes sense since the Enterprise is the flagship and Voyager was a lot lower in the fleet. It would make sense that the flagship would have a lot more experienced crew.

The only thing that affects how long it takes to brute force a password is length and entropy (the different types of characters used). Passphrase is designed to make it easier for a human to remember, so if you are using a PM to remember it anyway, a 64 character random password is going to be better than a 64 character passphrase.
I usually use the password generator in the 32 character range with all of the symbols, numbers, and characters included, since it seems like a lot of places don’t like longer passwords.
This is great news for people who actually want to own their media instead of just renting it.
I can also vouch for VLC to somewhat work, but it is pretty flaky and might need some finesse to work very well.
My experience has been to just rip all the titles using MakeMKV and load the extras into Jellyfin into a /Extras directory. That way I can watch the special features, but I lose the DVD menus, which can sometimes be a good thing with forced previews and FBI warnings and whatnot.
I would triple check the permissions on your media directory. That can cause weird problems.
You can also try running a shell from the container and seeing what it looks like from inside. That can show you if the directory was mapped wrong or something like that.
