  • The witches’ personalities are built on nonsense, sure, but I’d rather that than a person whose personality seems to be enjoying increasing hateful energy. It reads as someone who says that any and all criticism is “just people being haters”. I wouldn’t want to hang out with any of these people but I’m standing by my position that trolls are just pathetic, negatively impactful people.

Honestly though, it does point out how stupid rage-baiting is. This guy genuinely thinks that they must care about his opinion and when they ignore him for being a weird little tit he spends a whole lot of effort to try to say that that’s proof that their thing isn’t real. For one it’s trying to prove a negative, and two it’s just such a weird, self-absorbed thing to do.

Chasing hate from others is such a weird thing to do. I don’t think magic is real but I’d still rather be friends with some random person who thinks it is than be anywhere near this fuckin’ douchebag.

  • What the fuck are you talking about? This is community aimed at improving public transit infrastructure and getting cities, especially North American ones, off of car dependency. Your comments are written like you’re trying to fight against what this community(and all the science) says and are now going off about entirely unrelated things without really explaining, in any sort of detail, this tenuous link your mind has created. You even said that cars provide a better transportation service to airports than small airlines do(???) and that’s just completely off the rails to the point I can’t even guess at what you might mean with any level of confidence.

I’d love to figure out what the fuck is going on with you and this seemingly backwards, condtradictory opinion, so next time you reply can you just start over from the top and please take your time, there’s no rush.

Asking people what they do for fun can be some of the saddest conversations you’ll have(or the best!). Music? No. Art? Not really. Dancing? Sometimes. Games? No, not that much. The saddest thing for me personally is hearing someone say they used to play an instrument but just kinda don’t anymore, to the point where I lent my guitar to a friend so they’d have something until they could buy one to replace what they sold to move here.

  • Watched the intro, I imagine the rest, if your comment offers related context, is motorists getting mad about being essentially directly taxed?

“Why should I pay for trains I don’t use?!”

“Why should I pay for roads in your car-only neighbourhoods that I don’t use? Also the trains get more cars off the road and lessen traffic for those who actually do need to drive so it is helpful to you.”

“Stop I wanna be mad at public transit!”

  • …criminalize your friends? That’s such a funny victim complex thing to say. Buddy I drive a fucking sportscar(when I drive at all) and I don’t ever feel “criminalized”, even when the local main street becomes pedestrian in the summer(it should be year-round). There are some places that have banned certain types of cars from their downtown cores but for the most part no one is criminalizing cars. What they are doing is pointing out how every single piece of evidence ever gathered reinforces that robust public transit is the best way in urban or semi-urban environments and that even rural communities could be tighter and more walkable.

Also if cars are resulting in fewer deaths than firearms I’m shocked about how bad the firearm problem must be where you’re from(or wondering how many people actually have access to cars).

  • Many places use market-rate housing to help balance out the absurd rices charged when landlords get free rein to do whatever the fuck they want. It’s the same as social housing but people hear that word and, based on nothing, lose their shit and NIMBY themselves into higher rents.

The world’s issues are solvable, we’ve figured out the next several steps at least. The problem is that we can forget the drinking, even getting this horse to water seems next to impossible. You have several answers in front of you and we outnumber the investors by an insane margin, but good luck getting people to stand up for themselves.

  • It doesn’t take much, honestly, and is again more about not doing negative things as opposed to doing positive things, if it helps to see it that way.

If you’re putting out a very inward energy then that can make people avoid talking to you, even if they would like to but think you’re trying to be left alone. Like, if you’re nervous at a partner dancing thing you can go sit at a table far from the floor or you can stand beside the floor and watch. When you’re done dancing with someone, try to fire off a “I’m pretty new, do you know anyone who would be good dance with here?”. It doesn’t matter if you’re good at whatever it is you’re doing, people are drawn to those who have fun doing it.

You will have to do some stuff, of course. But it could be as small as smiling at a joke you overheard and maybe getting a “see, this guy gets it!” My roommate struggles to make friends at the Irish music jams we go to because they rarely engage with others and they’ll leave early without saying bye and stuff. They’re all super friendly, it doesn’t take much!

Another thing is that being a regular is helpful; people love recognizing other people. I remember the second time I went to a swing dance event and was jumped by someone saying “HA! We got you!”.

Ultimately you’ll learn this with practice. And remember that you don’t need to be everyone’s friend, not at all, just open to the possibility of making a new aquaintance.

Oh, and try to avoid one word answers. “Is this seat free?” “Absolutely, have a seat!”(and then you don’t need to do anything else if you don’t want to, but if they do then you’ve establish a positive energy.
