    Oh 100%. The thing that pisses me off though is when people direct it only at the sequels as if there aren’t glaring moments in every other movie too. Like this lightsaber ending up here? She’s connected to the resistance in some effect so sure. That doesn’t bother me. People complain about the “Somehow the Emperor has returned too” but like… we saw how he returned. Cloning. Was literally in the movie. It was only the Rebellion that didn’t know how the Emperor returned because like… why would they? Palps giving out the details on his resurrection to everyone like some kind of moron?

    Meanwhile…

    1. Vader isn’t capable of sensing Leia is his daughter while staring her dead in the fucking eyes and (in the radio drama) literally torturing her but he gets the vibe of Luke fucking instantly otherwise.

    2. “Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise”. They then proceed to miss everything for three movies.

    3. Zero foreshadowing for Luke and Leia being twins to the point they kiss

    4. Han says he’s flown from one side of the Galaxy to the other and doesn’t believe in the force despite the Jedi being galaxy famous less than 20 years before that moment.

    5. Technology taking an INCREDIBLY steep nosedive in 20 years

    6. Obi-Wan lying left/right/center where he either just makes shit up or omits massive details but is true “from a certain point of view”

    7. Obi-Wan doesn’t recognize R2 and R2 never says shit to anyone despite no memory wipes. Oh and VADER DOESN’T RECOGNIZE HIS FUCKING DROIDS.

    8. “If its not in the archives, it doesn’t exist”. So they’re the guardians of knowledge but don’t notice a planet being deleted out from under them. Also, if it isn’t in the archives it doesn’t exist? WHAT?!

    9. Farmer boy becomes fighter pilot overnight because ‘The Force’ and shooting womprats

    10. Sifo-Dyas just orders a clone army and no one notices or asks questions or anything. I know it’s partially explained in Clone Wars but still way too fucking sketchy to be satisfied over.

    11. Padme just dies

    12. They train Luke but not Leia?

    13. Palpatine just somehow skates by on being a Sith lord for decades while being 5 feet away from Yoda for YEARS

    14. Dooku just appears in Episode 2 with zero mention despite being a major figure and having trained Qui Gon

    15. Speaking of, Obi Wan calls Yoda his master but his master was Qui Gon

    16. Midichlorians. Hyper important. Never mentioned again.

    17. Death Star takes 20 years to build but the second one takes no time at all to be half completed and bigger than the first one. Oh and it’s fully operational. Sure.

    18. Jedi aren’t supposed to love. Anakin marries Padme. They’re always together. Like… literally no one noticed? Ever? Or are all Jedi boomers and believe that marriages are supposed to be loveless?

    19. Yoda just knows how to become a force ghost from Qui Gon who learned post death and Yoda taught it to Obi-Wan off screen. Oh and Vaderkin knows. Somehow.

    20. Leia remembers her mother. Who died in childbirth.

    21. The Rebel Alliance goes from ragtag fleet of fuckall to an entire navy with star cruisers.

    Now, a lot of those can be explained. You can either think of an explanation yourself and use it as headcanon or scrape through the canonical extended stuff like novelizations or whatever and fill in gaps. You can make arguments and say one thing is one way or another thing is another way. Hell I could come up with a ton of reasons for all of those. I DO come up with reasons for all of those. I love Star Wars and if it’s not openly explained I’ll have an explanation that fits. But what pisses me the fuck off is that everyone is willing to do it to the EXTREMELY LONG LIST of shit from the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy but immediately give up for the Sequel trilogy. It’s complete hypocrisy to say “These glaring errors are okay but those aren’t because they don’t come from the sparkling region of errors.”

    also not saying you’re doing that. Just wanted to vent. It’s legitimately the reason why I just actively avoid every single Star Wars community I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to deal with. Whether that be on Reddit or even here on Lemmy. The toxicity from Star Wars fans is fucking insane because it has no logic behind it. Star Trek people will argue to the death over because Star Trek lays everything out arguably too much so you can at least use a thousand points to fall back on for your argument. Star Wars is just passionate fans getting angry about shit they don’t like for no reason other than they don’t like it while being blind to the things they do like being guilty as fuck of what they’re crying over.

    Eh. Depends on the Christian. Same with every group of people, you’re always gonna have a mixed bag of people who are good, people who are bad and people who are just existing. The bad ones are just louder.

    Edit: It is genuinely concerning how so many of you are so willing to use blatantly bigoted lines of thought to hate a group. How you’re defending blatant discrimination and bigotry. It is funny. You complain about Christians as a group being ghouls while failing to recognize that you’re in the same camp. You’re doing the same thing they are. You are just as bad as the thing you’re complaining about but you don’t have an excuse to try and fall back on. You aren’t doing it because you misunderstood a book. You’re doing it because you’re hateful little bigots.

    You’re embarassments. Children screaming into the night about other Children. Grow the fuck up, the both of you.

    JK Rowling is the author of Harry Potter and was primarily known for this. Loved, even, for this. An enormous fanbase. Not to say that there weren’t issues with her portrayal of POC characters or doses of antisemitic behavior (The Goblin Bank literally has a MASSIVE Star of David in the middle of their lobby) but people still loved her nonetheless.

    Yet overtime she started adding random stupid things to canon. People asking about bathrooms and her randomly tweeting in response that wizards used to just shit themselves and then magic it all away. This happened more and more with all manner of subjects that started to really point out she was a piece of shit. When people started talking about her portrayal of various different characters, she sort of went off the deep end. She started getting really entrenched in her position and bitter towards everyone. One of these positions was that trans homies are not homies. The typical “mental illness/grooming/rapists” reasoning. Her position within the fandom fell into utter freefall and fractured an enormous amount of said fandom. This then bled into popular culture as a whole because she’s such a popular and influential public figure. She just kept digging and digging and digging and now she’s primarily known online as “That bigoted bitch who wrote the wizard books”. The entire Harry Potter franchise has become slightly toxic to the touch. Hogwarts Legacy was released to immense backlash and almost none of it was the fact that the game was a raging, repetitive and extremely badly written pile of hot garbage that had no character development or story consequences. Even the actor who played Hermione (not sure about others) came out and said that they would have nothing to do with a Harry Potter continuation or reboot if JK Rowling was involved in any way whatsoever which is what led JK and WB to team up to remake the Harry Potter series. There has been a TV show that was announced with JK herself being heavily involved.

    While still a massive franchise and a massive fandom, Harry Potter has aggressively slouched in those ratings and has been inextricably linked to the personal opinions of the author formerly known as JK Rowling. Honestly I just refer to her as “that transphobic bitch who wrote about the wizards” most of the time now.
