Are you describing right now or making a prediction I can’t tell
Mitch is a shitty traitor.
I don’t want a status quo either, I’m also a leftist.
I’m just trying to describe things as I see them.
If a show that I watched illegally is really good I make an effort to purchase stuff directly from the writers, or occasionally just give them a donation. Its not like the majority of a subscription would go to them either, just mostly in a CEOs pocket.
I could afford the extra subscription, it isn’t just about shaving down costs. I have a very good “user experience”, better than most streaming services I’ve used, when I pirate things. I don’t have any apple devices to watch on, and have heard it is unpleasant to use apple tv on alternatives.
Lastly, I just don’t like apple. Thats just my opinion, I don’t wanna support them.
They are talking about karma as a thing you could collect, point totals for all posts added together displayed on your profile. Not the voting mechanism itself.
Actually that is really really interesting what you said, “morally opposed to windmills.” They obviously are against them from a “moral” perspective, but I’ve never seen even an attempt at a moral argument against windmills, its all crazy conspiracy theory stuff. I would almost respect it more if one of them just said something like “I don’t like windmills because I think it is morally wrong to harvest wind”.
That is kinda my point, the meaning of “conservative” changes a lot through the centuries it has been used, and the only consistent part seems to be the assholes using it as a “friendly” sounding mask.
And your perspective of the public opinion of liberals is entirely too informed by mainstream media. Many leftists dislike liberals for not being leftist enough, and moderates seem to only expect maintenance of the status quo, not magic
It has only existed for a month and based on all evidence has always been for just US politics. Are you sure you haven’t confused it with another politics group on lemmy? Like [email protected]?
Idk why people want to change communities to be what they want them to be instead of seeking out or making the communities they want elsewhere. Anyone can have the politics name on any other instance, unlike how reddit was.
I disagree that people generally have a good idea what a fascist government looks like, or else there wouldn’t be this level of confusion. I think most people at best, know what countrys had a problem with fascism in the past, without any certainty of what parts of of those governments were where the fascism was, just guesses.
Thats why comparisons to nazis and such are so common I would say. People find it a lot easier to point out similarities to known fascism than to try and concisely point out the exact point where an action became “fascist”
They weren’t quite like this but there was still shitty conservatives in much the same way… The extremists weren’t the core yet though. They were absolutely still there and voting for Bush, they just weren’t allowed to be the face of the party… Yet.
Why do they all hate windmills so much?
I had an old family friend meltdown, unfriend me from facebook, and avoid me like the plague ever since I told him he was wrong when he claimed it takes more electricity to make a single windmill than a windmill can ever produce in it’s usuable lifetime…
“conservative” is starting to feel like a meaningless label that assholes throughout history have tried to use to describe themselves because they didn’t like the other words people were using to describe them.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are “real” conservatives out there and in history, but it sure feels like they are outnumbered by the people that use the word as a mask, and that is weird.
Why would you subscribe to something in the first place without knowing anything more than its title? Bizarre.
Fixing our emissions problem absolutely is the most important part, but technology for ecology restoration is ALSO very important. There are things (quite possibly the survival of many species of coral) that are already gone or past the point of no return, that are necessary to fix or replace to prevent further collapse of ecosystems. And don’t downplay the effort and work done by biologists and ecologists to save individual species, it is difficult and often underappreciated.
I love the comic strip and am looking forward to this.
But apple tv? That sucks. For them, mostly, I’m just gunna have to pirate it.
Doesn’t reddit not make money though? Like, if traffic resulted in them making money, I’d agree, but everything I’ve heard would indicate using reddit with an adblocker literally costs them money.
Exclusively using reddit to protest should be fine IMO, just don’t contribute anything that isn’t a protest (including voting)
Lmao proof positive that you are just an asshole gatekeeper. Probably sexist too, despite your claim otherwise, since you are so determined to put her down.
I haven’t been coding for any years, I’m not in CS. You being a gatekeeper probably means you think I should’t even be allowed to comment in this thread at all. I do have many people in my life who are in CS and discuss it with them regularly. (I hope you don’t mind how vague I’m being, don’t want too much identifying information)
The original claim in the post was just “can code in”, and you made unnecessary disparaging comments implying she was a liar and inexperienced, just like the assholes in the screenshot, because you got your panties in a twist that anyone DARE claim a skill in something you do without your approval. It then turned into a stupid back and forth where you constantly changed how experienced you expected her to be to meet your criteria.
That kind of behavior pisses me the fuck off. Let people do and enjoy things, don’t gatekeep, and don’t act like you are certain of something just because of what you think is “likely” in your limited worldview.
It isn’t my job personally to worry about the employees of a massive corperation with more money at any given time than I’ll ever see.
I pay the artists writers sometimes not because I think they are owed something for their work, but because I want to reward well done art that I liked. It isn’t how I convince myself that piracy of media produced by large corperations is moral, I think piracy of media produced by large corperations is always moral because large corperations are inherently predatory on all public commons, especially when it comes to IP law. Just look at how they took away the entire concept of things entering the public domain from entire generations.
