I think it’s still the leader and I certainly prefer it to other alternatives.

There is plenty of data on compromised certs. I mean if you steal a cert you essentially steal the identity of that server.

I’m just saying before that you had admins connecting from time to time to the server while deploying but after that change it could be years before someone connects. Cert deployment IMO is often one of the last maintenance that is not automated and one of the hardest to automate both safely and reliably.

But for a business that handles it that way it’s just straight up an upgrade in security to have shorter certs.

I just hope that automation doesn’t bring new vulnerabilities… Otherwise we get safer cert but poorly secured automated PKI to create the certs?

I mean if you have a fully automated cert deployment it could be months with a compromised system and you probably wouldn’t see it.

It also seems like the first purge would have removed all strongswan* package anyway so it sounds likely that you attempted to purge strongswan and decided not to. Maybe seeing the things that would be broken at the time you decided to reduce the scope of the great purge of strongswan in 2022 :)

I’m usually pretty relaxed when it comes to disclosure of vulnerabilities but this is the kind of issues where I think it would have been better to privately report the issue to the Lemmy dev and wait ( a long time probably) for it to be fixed before disclosing.

Especially since currently there is multiple people abusing the image hosting feature.

Not a big deal, but sometimes it is actually a better practice to give an opportunity to the dev to fix something before forcing them to do so in a hurry.

Just a perspective on why people would support NVIDIA here:

• They don’t believe in copyright law so they don’t mind whoever infringe on them. Especially since here it would make the proprietary driver work better.

• They do care about copyright law but think having a working driver outweighs respecting them.

Not my opinion here just saying that for some people usability trumps any other aspects.

I’m not sure how well this would work but considering the ability of certain smartphones keyboard to learn your language pattern it could be useful to some.
