When my cat was a kitten she crawled into one of my dresser drawers while I was in the shower, and after I got dressed I closed the drawer, not knowing she was in there. Poor thing was in there from about 4pm-11pm. I came home to a very traumatized cat who still won’t go into confine spaces. Check your drawers!

Yeah, that’s something I’ve been trying to work out. I was thinking it would be plugged in and included those wall covering tracks in the package, but ultimately that’s no solution. And if it’s mounted getting it down to charge or replace batteries doesn’t make much sense.

Yes, I’ve seen this before. Well not this specific article, but the idea that the laser pointer doesn’t give them that tactile satisfaction. Again, we do play with our cats with lots of touch toys. Just thought this may be a fun other toy.

I can, but we’re gone at work all day. Having something that can engage them when they want would be very useful. We play with them, but I think it’s a bit of a generalization to say it’s dehumanizing or we can’t make the time. There’s nothing wrong with wanting an additional thing besides myself to enrich my pets lives.

Edit: also, the angles. Our home is narrow and so to give them a good workout it requires a lot of moving around and holding the laser pointer over my head to get a good angle on it. Clearly you don’t have a cat, cause it’s 20-30 minutes when I bust it out, not 5. They fucking love the thing. Having something that knows the bounds of the space and can move through it smoother and more consistently than I can would be great.

Thanks for all the advice and responses. Sounds like anything coming to fruition is pretty unlikely, as I don’t have $100k to work with. The product was a programmable wall/ceiling mounted laser pointer for cats. Could map your space, design patterns, and maybe have some tracking to keep the laser in front of your pets and avoid it shining in their eyes. The controller app would connect via Bluetooth so it’d be local and no personal data like video or mapping would get stored, as I wanted to emphasize privacy.

Maybe someone more qualified can do something with it. Or Amazon will build it. Idc, it’s just something I’d like and thought it was a pretty good idea. One that, admittedly, I probably won’t do the work required to actually make.

So I initially was super off put by hexbear when it started showing up. But reading through this thread, and your comments, I feel differently.

My main thing is the “own the libs” type narrative because I considered myself a liberal. I didn’t want to feel attacked while trying to expand my view. But reading through these I think that’s because Ive always defined myself as a “liberal” but I think I just conflated that word with “left”

Based off a lot of what I read here, I actually am considering joining the instance because I do agree with the sentiments and I do want to educate myself beyond what I’ve been taught in the very flawed US public school system and the headlines I’m fed daily.

No that’s valid and I’m with you 100%. I raised these concerns to the people actually putting up the show and they apparently aren’t in a position to be able to cancel or postpone.

I’m taking all the precautions I can to avoid spreading it. Double mask the entire time and isolating myself when not on stage. But I agree with your point. Best would be to not do it at all. But I can’t very well just refuse to do it, a lot of people worked really hard and spent money to put this up, and if they want to go ahead with it after I’ve tested and informed everyone, then so be it.

Yeah pretty much same! Today I woke up a bit meh, but slept a few hours and woke up like it never happened. I’d say 2 days of lead up, two days of full blown illness, and then more or less fine. A bit of drainage.
