  • Im personally looking forward to Edison EV conversions.

The ability to take a vehicle I already have and turn it into an EV or hybrid would be amazing.

I know they’re a while from full production, but I see that as a win. So many of these EVs are having quality issues because they’re being shit out onto the market as fast as humanly possible. I’d rather a company actually take the time to do R&D, test things thoroughly, and then release a product.

  • So the staff of 20 something tech bros has been compromised by Russians?

Gee, it’s not like intelligence agencies are known for targeting young men in positions of power. It’s almost like there should be some kind of system to provide clearance to individuals that handle secure information. A system that ensures they don’t have a lot of debt or aren’t afflicted with 20 year old dude brain that will convince them to hand over their work to some pretty face that loves sucking their dick every Saturday for no apparent reason.

  • Man, I just wanted to see humans on the moon in my life. NASA seemed like the best bet because they’re the only agency from the space race, with the recorded experience of doing long terms Spaceflight, still doing innovative things. Roscosmos hasn’t done much new since the soviets fell apart, even though we now know they had some wacky plans for things like Tri-propellant shuttles, and Energia was an amazing heavy lift vehicle that is basically just scrap metal at this point.

I thought Elon would be the reason we didn’t go to the moon because of starship being vaporware. Turns out Elon is the reason we’re not going to moon because he wants to cover up that starship is vaporware.

Shuttering NASA is a net loss not just for the USA but for the entire species. Everything from battery powered power tools, Velcro, the glass on our phones, the little safety grooves on highway off ramps, and a thousand other advancements not even including going to fucking space, can be traced back to NASA pushing human Spaceflight to its limit. Every dollar spent on Apollo generated something like 3 dollars in growth for the US economy because of all of the R&D that companies had to throw at the problem.

I only hope that either the ESA or CNSA can actually put humans on the moon. It was insane 50 years ago and it’s insane even today, but I still think that Armstrong’s first step onto the moon should go down as one of the most important moments in human history, the first time a human left earth and put his foot down on a different celestial body is just as important as the harnessing of fire or electricity. It should be the first step of many, not just a brief footnote that marks we were there.

  • It’s not like the US auto industry is a key sector of the economy or anything.

That’s why it was so silly that Obama bailed them out, right? They’re only like 5% of the GDP. 5% is a little baby number.

God this country is power sliding into an another Great Recession. What do these idiots think they’re gonna do when a good chunk of the population loses their homes and comfortable lives because of them? A population with nothing to lose, lots of guns floating around, and no prospects for improvement under the current administration should be a very scary future for any leader.

I’d ask if they remember the French Revolution, but these fuckers seem to want to go back to a time before that.

  • The NHTSA doesn’t actually certify anything.

They write the standards that vehicles and products must follow, but it’s up to the manufacturers to certify themselves as being compliant.

This explains how the cyber trucks, with no third party testing, are considered road legal in the US and basically no other country.

So Elon is not firing regulators that will deny his cars a certification, he’s firing regulators that decide what the requirements will be.

    Thats so much worse.

Source for anyone interested. It’s a reply to a man wanting to import air bags, but the letter does give a nice overview of the laws.

  • Tape is also difficult to steal. The machines to read the tapes are expensive and uncommon, a tape reading machine requires no internet connection, meaning it can’t be subject to man-in-the-middle attacks, and the physical storage devices can be secured and guarded when not in use.

This fucking idiot is gonna lose the plans for our nukes, isn’t he. Just like when he disabled half of twitter because he physically yanked a server rack out of the building without knowing what it did.

  • Also the return of paper towels for hand drying.

I hate those stupid air dryers. Most of them barely do any better than just shaking your hands in the air, because they’re simply spraying your clean hands with all of the shit and piss particles that are floating in the air.

Would rather have some cheap paper towels so I can dry my hands, and use the towel to open the door before throwing it in the trash.
