The ideal life is dying when you’re only 54? That’s pretty bleak!

If you’re thinking cost wise, I’m pretty sure even adjusted for inflation the statue of Liberty was less than $15 million dollars.

When I was in high school in the 90s a group of us in computer class made a ‘virus’ that would launch the hamster dance website in all of the classroom computers randomly. We had to put it on a diskette and install it manually on each computer but at the time none of the computers even had antivirus so the school had to reformat them to remove it.

I remember watching that movie when it came out, that line is burned into my brain forever.

You keep hearing some members of this administration talk about automation and robots for factory jobs, and also AI for office jobs. If the press were at all smart they would continually ask these morons to keep explaining this contradiction. But I would love hear what they think will happen if everyone in the country loses their job. It’s not going to be good for the %.01 either.

Trump is clearly a bumbling idiot but certainly not with good intentions. He’s a great representation of Hanlon’s razor. Or the notion of a Useful Idiot, his goals align with foreign actors but Trump does these things because he wants to do them. Trump also has deep seated issues with pleasing male authority figures, ‘strong men’, which totally makes sense with how his father was towards him.

There’s already been a pretty huge drop in port traffic, like in the raw number of containers being shipped in. We should really see some changes over the summer.

I’m amazed how the Internet allows people to watch videos of how they make cocaine and they still try it. The process is pretty gross. The main video I remember shows them mixing up the leaves with gasoline.

The Christian Bible has the same restrictions about eating pigs, but they just ignore it. A lot of Jewish people in the US do as well.

Let’s be honest, Obama is at least partially responsible for the USA being in the situation it is now. We don’t need Obama again, we need an actual left candidate that will actually fight for leftist agenda items, like Medicare for all, and not double down on W Bush policies and kill thousands of people with drones.

Obama ran on a left leaning agenda with major grassroots support, then dismantled that organization and governed as a center right Democrat.

Given that he’s already said they will find the cause by September tells you he already has labeled vaccines as the cause and is just preparing the ‘evidence’. That isn’t enough time to actual study a widespread factor like environmental pollution. Also far too many corporations would lobby to directly stop any research into that.

People do that all the time now. There were big articles out against Bernie is 2019 calling him antisemitic, probably many earlier examples out there as well.

This is a big reason why I continue to cringe whenever I hear one of the endless news stories or podcasts about how AI is going to revolutionize our society any day now. It’s clear they are being better with image generation but text ‘thinking’ is way too unreliable to use like human replacement knowledge workers or therapists, etc.

As somebody who’s data was compromised during a previous OPM breach,I have been telling folks this would happen from day 1. These guys are all clowns, probably using free accounts on Box or other filesharing sites to store sensitive data.

Is that supposed to be safer than the body scanner? I just wish we didn’t have to take our shoes off.

Even taking his bullshit argument at face value, he thinks the best solution for these violent drug addicts is to leave them out of the street? Who is the audience here? If you literally think they are all violent, why is leaving them free to roam around the right solution?

I know it’s all about money and grandstanding on his part but this definitely seems like some under-the-influence kind of deep thoughts.

It’s so annoying to hear certain folks acting like all the problems in America come from this Thunderdome type situation at the boarder with Mexico. And never do they have any recommendation that doesn’t involve hurting people or invading Mexico out other ridiculous things. Just the other day I heard someone talking about all the Chinese people coming across the Mexico boarder and how they were actually spies for China. Fifteen years ago they were Muslims and terrorists.

Didn’t Thatcher say that Cameron was her priest achievement? I’m sure she had something to do with it.

At least in the USA the bigger challenge seem to be the energy company’s really fighting back against residential solar. California is facing some serious changes, I don’t think net metering is even an option in just municipal areas even more. I’ve heard around San Francisco they are going to start hitting folks with big grid connection fees every month.

In my area of North Carolina it’s the same thing, with the power company doing everything it can to make switching to solar less and less worth it. Just the cost of the panels are enough to do that for most people!
