In NL (likely any EU country) you can have the bank reclaim an automatic payment. Those are used for pretty much anything that requires a monthly or yearly payment.

There’s a Dutch television show regarding people’s financials where one couple was reclaiming their mortgage and their electric bill every month. When asked about it they claimed some bs. In one episode they had maybe 200 EUR left on their bank account. But they reclaimed 400 from the electric bill. The father thought they did well that month as they had 200 EUR left. The mother disagreed as they actually were at -200 EUR. This resulted in them starting what seemed like a angry discussion. The father completely relied on the figure in the bank account. If it’s positive then you have money left!

Tv show is called “waar doen ze het van” if anyone understanding Dutch is reading along. It follows usually 4 different couples across a few episodes. Couples are from dirt poor up to rich (income of 50.000+ per month).

It’s between paying off your mortgage and putting the money into something with a higher expected return than you’d be paying on your mortgage.

I saw a discussion on this recently that gave an interesting perspective. It said that people often aren’t rational. As such, it might help to first mostly pay off the mortgage. This as that’ll give peace of mind. Which then helps with investments. It’s much easier to take risks when someone is at ease. The ease might result in higher returns, though being comfortable is already a good return.

This has been going on since 2014. Since last year Russia stepped up with genocide. I think it’s not so nice you’re pretending you were downvoted for two things, while ignoring that negotiation is pretty stupid. Look in the past, Russia often though messed up their initial attack only then to finally become wiser after regrouping.

Yet all these left leaning European countries have tried to turn a blind eye or downplay every time one of these groups have assaulted or threatened someone.

Which countries do you mean? And could you explain how they ignored people assaulting other people?

I fail to see why this is a thing, or why you mention it’s somehow a “left” thing.

The reason it’s more significant now is that Turkey is using the book burning as an excuse to withhold approving NATO membership. After that it became news, before that it wasn’t news. Meaning, no need to make up stuff about you making up things about “left leaning”.

It’s good and bad news at the same time. Great that Ukraine is making progress. Unfortunate that Russia keeps at it instead of just going home.

There was a recent article that mentioned that it might not be so close anymore due to the results of anti-vaccine politics and the effects it had on the death rate.

Due to electorial college and gerrymandering. Looking at the number of votes it wasn’t close at all. There have been loads of articles regarding the illegal gerrymandering where in various cases the illegal ones were still kept as any change was blocked.

It’s a close election because it’s manipulated.
