OpenAI allows you to signup with your Google Account. Last Time I checked there was no requirement to provide a phone number for that. But even if, what the hell is so special about your phone? If you still use MFA over Text, you shouldn’t be worried about some random company having your phone number, but rather about why you use the weakest form of MFA in the first place.

Also, just by someone knowing your phone number, you don’t compromise your phone number. If that’s the case, better get a new one and make sure none of the people you ever give it to use Whatsapp or anything of that sort or your number will be in someone’s database at some point. Don’t ever call anyone with that number as they will have acces to it afterwards (and no, just disabling Caller ID doesn’t necessarily work to prevent this).

I come from the german speaking part of Switzerland and I don’t think I ever heard someone actually use the word “Mäusespeck” although it certainly would he understood I think. Everybody around me calls them marshmallows.

This public „thanks for your service“ thing is so weird to me… Here in Switzerland you have actual soldiers sitting next to imyou in the trains at the beginning and end kf the week. Most of them haven’t joined voluntarily and even the ones who did, no one would ever think about thanking them for thei service. It’s a job like any other, or a mandate for most. Same for surrounding countries who don’t have mandatory military duties.

I find it particularly weird in the US where the most common reason for someone to join the military is to pay of debt or because they pay for your education. My responds to that would be “Stop thanking me and maybe vote for people who wanna change the system so I don’t have to put my life at risk to be able to study.”

Total agree with prostitution, Drugs on the other hand are tricky. I like Portugals approach. Decriminalize it for individuals, prosecute the distributors and get those addicted help to get off of it. Seems to work quite good for them.

Lots of states also are very ambiguous with their laws or don’t actively prosecute them. In any way: It’s s a stupid law and no one is hurt by topless or even nude people in the streets. I don’t find it appealing for myself but if others like it, let them have it.

If it’s dirty, I wipe it with a microfiber cloth. I don’t wash it or anything, after all I’m the only one touching it and I wash hands and keep regular hygiene. If I’d be working in a hospital or other place where increased hygiene would be necessary, I’d do it more often. When I still work in the kitchen, I just left my phone in my locker, washed my hands before my shift (and during of course) and it’s not realy a big deal.

Look my problem with all of this is: AI doesnt steal copyrighted work, not really. It’s more like someone reading a book and being inspired to ise it for a project he has. We humans do that all the time, AI is just faster at it. So why should we treat a software differently than every other person ont the planet. What’s next? Are we suing people for playing songs that might have been inspired by another song? That’s sjust not how things work.
