  • The better alternative is for the GOP to gets its act together and start trying to win elections by policy and running stuff by data

Which sounds great for exactly one election cycle, after that not so much. Power breeds corruption.

I think it sounds great for more than one election cycle to the trans people being targeted by the GOP’s legislative genocide campaign.

The better alternative is for the GOP to gets its act together and start trying to win elections by policy

I mean we’ve seen what happens with that. They’ll cook up another single-voter-issue and choose a minority to attack. That’s their way of “winning with policy”.

I’d be fine with the DNC winning everything until a 3rd party gets established if it means we can get rid of the GOP as a major political player.

  • Yeah I think LTT has done a lot of great stuff and could do some really amazing stuff yet. I enjoy the content and have supported them, but nobody’s perfect. I don’t think anything they’ve done is worth an unfollow at this point, personally, but I understand why some may not agree.

I think Linus has gotten lost in the sauce. It’s been apparent that everyone there has been exhausted for a while, and I think Linus hasn’t cared for the people working for him as much as his desire for a media empire, which has led to overworking and an unsustainable work environment.

Linus’ take on unions was shitty. IDK if a union could ever start there, but it seems like it could really help the company become more sustainable and keep it on course, because it seems like if the employees had their voices heard things might not have got so bad.

Yup. I’ve been using linux off and on since middle school - just installed Arch on my laptop because I felt like tinkering and such, but I’ve tried dozens of distros over the years, even fully switching for months at a time, and for a daily driver Windows is still unbeatable for me - sometimes I do feel like messing with my computer, but not all the time.

I rarely have to tinker with Windows more than a bit to get it doing what I want.

However, I do wanna get to the point where I’m as comfortable/knowledgeable with Linux as I am with Windows, but it’s definitely a wildly different beast.

And as someone who lives right outside SF, yes it’s one of the best cities for public transit in the US, but it can still take 2 hours to go somewhere that would take 30mins in a car.

Not all the time - sometimes it’s just as fast as a car, but often enough that it’s a deterrent.

And mind you, I live literally across the street from a train stop, so public transit is way more convenient for me than for most in the area.
