Very interesting, thanks for the info. I may have to piece together an ebay server to mess around with some of it.

What do you use to manage SSD/HDD management like that? I just reinstalled Arch and would love to mess with this.
I mean, to split hairs here, republicans (democrats as well, they just never succeeded in an electoral over popular victory) intentionally target specific areas with campaigning and funds in order to “use” the electoral system to secure the w, so they have used it, but they’ve used it to overrule the popular vote, not overturn.
Altho depending on who you ask there was some fishy shit with Bush IIRC so that could be overturn. I don’t know anything about that tho so no clue the veracity of that.
And I’m sure they just get an exception.
The better alternative is for the GOP to gets its act together and start trying to win elections by policy and running stuff by data
Which sounds great for exactly one election cycle, after that not so much. Power breeds corruption.
I think it sounds great for more than one election cycle to the trans people being targeted by the GOP’s legislative genocide campaign.

I mean we’ve seen what happens with that. They’ll cook up another single-voter-issue and choose a minority to attack. That’s their way of “winning with policy”.
I’d be fine with the DNC winning everything until a 3rd party gets established if it means we can get rid of the GOP as a major political player.
Yeah I think LTT has done a lot of great stuff and could do some really amazing stuff yet. I enjoy the content and have supported them, but nobody’s perfect. I don’t think anything they’ve done is worth an unfollow at this point, personally, but I understand why some may not agree.
I think Linus has gotten lost in the sauce. It’s been apparent that everyone there has been exhausted for a while, and I think Linus hasn’t cared for the people working for him as much as his desire for a media empire, which has led to overworking and an unsustainable work environment.
Linus’ take on unions was shitty. IDK if a union could ever start there, but it seems like it could really help the company become more sustainable and keep it on course, because it seems like if the employees had their voices heard things might not have got so bad.
Yup. I’ve been using linux off and on since middle school - just installed Arch on my laptop because I felt like tinkering and such, but I’ve tried dozens of distros over the years, even fully switching for months at a time, and for a daily driver Windows is still unbeatable for me - sometimes I do feel like messing with my computer, but not all the time.
I rarely have to tinker with Windows more than a bit to get it doing what I want.
However, I do wanna get to the point where I’m as comfortable/knowledgeable with Linux as I am with Windows, but it’s definitely a wildly different beast.
I know a flight attendant who was scheduled to fly there today. The hotel they would’ve stayed at burned down.
Really awful to see. Hope there’s minimal loss of life and they’re able to rebuild quick, but I know there’s gotta be a lot lost regardless.
Yeah I created a lot of content for reddit, so there’s the part of me that as a creator wants to pull my content from a platform that I don’t want to profit off of me any longer.
But there’s also the part of me that has seen my content get reposted endlessly, which to me is always fun to see. And I want the originals to be available to people still.
It’s a tough call. I stopped posting anything after the app shutdown, and have basically all but stopped using the site, so I hold no attachment to my account at this point, I’d just hate for all of my content to become harder to find.
Maybe I should just set up my own instance or even just a website with all my gifs and such.
Words mean things.
Yes and neoliberalism means something that you apparently are too lazy to click a link to learn.
You should educate yourself instead of continuing to argue against using a word you can’t define.
Yup, same. I just need like a 3-12 month break every once in a while.
Yup. I stopped posting/commenting on reddit after third party apps were shut down, and now I’m fully on Lemmy.
Not deleting my reddit or anything yet, but reddit lost me, and I created lots of OC for that site. It’ll be interesting to see, but anecdotally reddit feels like it’s lost something since the shutdown. Maybe that’s just me tho.
And as someone who lives right outside SF, yes it’s one of the best cities for public transit in the US, but it can still take 2 hours to go somewhere that would take 30mins in a car.
Not all the time - sometimes it’s just as fast as a car, but often enough that it’s a deterrent.
And mind you, I live literally across the street from a train stop, so public transit is way more convenient for me than for most in the area.
I’m so hell-bent on customizing everything that I refuse to use anything other than custom Arch and end up hating myself for it.
Thank you. Millennials and Gen Z are the same mindless consumers that boomers were, by and large. It wasn’t their generation, it was the bourgeoisie.
I mean it’s a software developed by someone. If you don’t feel like it’s worth it then that’s fine, but to many, Sync is worth the premium.
That’s not hypocrisy. They’re not advocating one thing and doing another.
If you don’t like the ads don’t use the app.
I stopped posting to Reddit, and nearly entirely stopped using it after the shutdown. I haven’t bothered to switch to anything else, but now I’ll be using Lemmy.
I mean, you said it.
