MariaDB runs like hot garbage with Nextcloud imo. I’ve gotten to the point where I use legit MySQL or PostgreSQL and performance is night and day. I have no idea why Maria acts out with Nextcloud for me, but I’ve gotten tired of troubleshooting it.

Honestly this is why I’ve resisted going to seafile. I’ve been using owncloud for a while and it’s been solid, but it’s not my favourite thing in the world.
Wouldn’t OwnCloud also be bound by the same AGPL on their code, then?
My main usecase is saving photos but I don’t want them locked away in a database so SeaFile is out.
the Tl;DR is that Owncloud has a non-open source Enterprise version with extra features you need to pay for
This isn’t any different than a lot of other softwares, though… Nextcloud has the same Enterprise pricing/features shit, too. https://nextcloud.com/enterprises/
Actually, so does Photoprism. https://www.photoprism.app/features
TIL on Firefox having an adblocker natively. May have to give it another whirl.
Because there’s nothing better. Not for lack of trying, of course, but because Office is such the juggernaut it’s hard to iterate on it while also keeping up with current features.
Note: I’m talking for business/finance, etc work, not home work where LibreOffice and OnlyOffice are perfectly cromulent.
How is it not fit for purpose? Legitimate question - as an end user, I’ve used Teams, Slack and Google’s Hangouts/Chat/Business Chat (whatever the fuck they call it now) and they’re all functionally the same. Chat, video calls, audio calls, etc - they all work fine. They’ve all had extension ability and webhooks and everything.
It’s because you can uninstall Edge now so they don’t need the browser choice thing.
If you can manage to use a non-Firefox browser, there are other adblocking browsers available for iOS. I use Ecosia, but Brave and even Safari support adblocking extensions now.
Do you mean your preferred browser, or preferred browser rendering engine? I’m fairly certain all of the major browsers are available on iOS, but they all have to use the built-in Webkit engine.
This is all similar to using Microsoft Windows or Mac OS so I guess people are so used to this behavior that it’s somehow ok.
Not so much used to it, but just kinda sigh and accept it because I like my apps to work. I’m a long time Linux user as well, and I still have to keep a Windows box around for random shit that just refuses to work on Linux for various bogus reasons.
people like to live with other people.
Speak for yourself.
Have you given Ecosia a shot? I find it better than Brave’s search, with the side-effect of not having a shithole CEO.
That’s kinda what I’m thinking. It’s just a new app that is part of Microsoft Office but also available standalone. Pretty sure you can also just… not install it during Office install, just like all of the other apps. They all work independently of each other.
Wow, two very small issues that Mozilla has done and quickly listened to user feedback and walked it back. Totally a legit reason to not use it.
I’m not rural - hell, I live in a suburb of DC - but I couldn’t survive without a car where I live. I’m 5 minutes from a grocery store by car, but 30-45 by bus, not counting waiting time for the bus to arrive.
Should cars be phased out or otherwise forced to downsize? IMO, yes - over time. But do we also need to drastically overhaul our public transit and walk/bike infrastructure? Absolutely, and this should happen first.
I’ve got the GL-iNet lte router and it works amazingly. It’s the plug in model, not the hotspot one.
