I just installed mine for the first time 4 days ago. I was excited, it worked, looked great. Then it cracked, in 4 days. I have no faith in screen protectors anymore.

I went a little crazy and setup my own wireguard VPN network, all the remote hosts connect to the VPN and the primary server connects to each of them and pushes backups. Because I use btrfs and lots of snapshots I use btrbk, annoying to setup but now my hourly snapshots get pushed everywhere, minimal bandwidth and it flawlessly has worked for years.

My father wants to sell his deep sea fishing boat, no more fish to catch. He is so heavily restricted on what he can catch there is no point going out anymore. Meanwhile when he goes out into international waters and fishes based on these rules he has to dodge all the international fishing trawlers that scrap the ocean clean. Very frustrating.

For what it’s worth I hope he sells his boat. It’s stupid and wasteful to burn 200 gallons of gas to perhaps catch one shark. It’s painfully wasteful.

I do this except the offline copies are raspberry pis, they grab an update then turn their network card off and go black for about a month. Randomly they turn on the network card, pull a fresh copy and go black again. Safe from randomware and automatic.

Are those old ISA sound blasters worth much? I think I have a few in the basement…

I have a trailer (workshop) with solar power, batteries, a raspberry pi controlling everything and a cellular hot spot. It pumps all the solar, battery information and light controls over MQTT and home assistant over cellular. So yes its possible, what do you want to do?

Legit companies won’t just print it without self testing. At any point the EU can demand test data and if you don’t have it they can block your company from shipping there. It also opens the company up to lawsuits. Big companies with a brand to protect won’t mess around with this, it’s cheaper to design and test.

I think a full resync then re-index will go fine. My setup is different in that I sync everything through Nextcloud and run a script that looks for changes and triggers an indexing scan in photoprism. That being said I’ve absolutely mutilated some photo prism databases (migrating servers, different folder names with the same content) and run full indexing and never ended up with duplicates. It’s very good at stacking and cleaning up the same files in the DB so long as there aren’t actual duplicates in the original storage. But again it might take 3 or more full scans to find and purge duplicates.

I personally wouldn’t put any unbranded and uncertified AC to DC converter in my home. Without proper regulatory testing and certification it’s a fire hazard.

I am far from a photo prism expert but I can safely say the indexing algorithm is weird and takes multiple runs to finish. Logically I would expect to run it once and it would do everything in one scan but I’ve found it takes sometimes 3 to 5 full scans to update and properly catch up to major changes. It’s almost like it acknowledges big changes and documents it but waits for multiple passes before committing it. Also it does a really good job when scanning to look or duplicate images and stacking/repointing to the valid file. I would advise running the indexing another 2 or 3 times if you are confident the 31k files are actually on storage and just not showing up on the database.

What did you hook up? You mentioned using cords? But first off, what you pictured, you need to make sure it’s wired correctly. There is no standard for barrel jacks. The center pin can be positive or negative and the jacket and be positive or negative. If you’re using a generic 5.5x2.1mm female barrel jack most generic 12v power supplies overwhelmingly do center pin positive and jacket negative. Once you get polarity correct check the amperage rating of the supply and the motor. Motors usually require huge in rush current to start and can easily trigger a short circuit protection on the supply output

It’s great if you don’t abuse it, it’s not intended for anything big. Little bits of stuff in the bottom of your sink? Rinse and turn the motor on.

Is it possible to install a small covered entry where the peak sheds water to the sides of the front door? Just a short 4x4 roof over your front door. Regarding the valley, that could be a prime spot to quasi gutter the water; catch it and guide it down and away from the house.

Exactly by design. It’s a lot cheaper to make people quit than to lay them off and pay a severance package.

I did all Samsung in my current kitchen. Microwave died in 3 years, I’ve repaired the dish washer 3 times now it and doesn’t even clean that well and the bi metal switch that cools the stove electronics got stuck so I had to take the whole thing apart to replace a $5 part. Never buying Samsung again.

Just yesterday I was towing about a half to 2/3 of a cord of a wood with my wagon. Folks assume you need a giant truck to tow anything. Full disclosure though I was pushing the limits of my car, it pulls this weight without issue but stopping it risky and I have to drive very carefully and keep huge buffers between myself and the next car.

Whenever I see a giant RV towing a giant SUV bigger than any of the vehicles I own I get a little frustrated and irritated. If you want to explore the country you can do it without taking every amenity and gadget from home. Just go out there, see and be in the world, don’t take the ‘world’ with you.
