Desperado in Australia. I’m down for this.

How is it I started work at 9, I’ve been here 18 hours, yet it’s not even 1:30? (Today is going soooo slooooow)
Mainly just work and uni and placement and writing and just trying to have a non-tech life at times. Too many irons in the fire.
Howdy all.
I have not been here for a long long time. Life has certainly got in the way of everything.
Hope you are all doing well and life has been good.
I got into westerns a few years back as well. I even wrote some western short stories set in Tasmania and have a couple more planned.
The 2010 remake of True Grit is fantastic. Hailey Steinfeld was amazing in it. High Noon is a movie you have to add to your list. It’s my favourite western (and top 3 overall movie for me. Funnily enough, Out of Sight is top 3 for me too and that’s a Elmore Leonard novel - add that to your Leonard novel reading list).
Anything Clint Eastwood western is going to be good. Justified TV show for a neo-western (also based on Elmore Leonard). They adapted Get Shorty into a TV series too which was pretty good.
Jackie Brown is based off Rum Punch.
The Tall T, 3:10 to Yuma are westerns based off a Leonard short stories too.
Honestly, you are spoiled for choice with Elmore Leonard and westerns/adaptions.
Once I get into a new house I cannot wait to do jigsaw puzzles.
Thanks :-)
Sadly they don’t have what I am looking for. But they are pretty good.
The fun part. haha.
urgh, why are people selling second hand used books for ridiculous prices? We need an australian version of thriftbooks.
I’m gonna have to I think, but dermatologist in Launceston or whatever is booked out until next year.
I’ve wondered if it is stress related. I’ve been under a fair bit of it for various reasons.
Happy belated Birthday. Good choice of cake too!
Unfortunately don’t have a bath, but might try the nivea.
Thank you for reading!
When I have days where I question myself or my writing, I think of how engaged the kids were and it really motivates me to keep going. Even if your book isn’t kid appropriate, finishing it is an achievement in itself and one step to being a published author. You got this.
Does anyone suffer eczema? Any advice? I’ve tried a few creams - prescribed and off the shelf and I am going back to the doctors, but I need something in the mean time because it is driving me bananas.
Last week was book week and I was invited to do some writing/book talks at three primary schools nearby and it went so awesomely well. I was nervous - as always, and really wasn’t in the mood for it - but the kids were so engaging and fun to talk too. They asked a lot of questions and really just made the whole thing worthwhile. I tried getting them involved by asking them questions about writing and they showed me some stories they were working on too.
I donated my books to their school library and apparently they’re all keen to borrow them. I also had the books sell out at the local store nearest them and I restocked them and it’s almost sold out again. It’s only 6 or 7 copies but it’s taken months to even sell that many at times so it was really cool and a surprise.
I know I should get over it, but do you think it’s ‘ok’ to be miffed about donating something to someone and not even getting a thank you in return?
It’s been a month. I am mostly over it, but from time to time it comes to mind and it bugs me as someone who lives in a world thinking they’ve never mattered.
