471·2 years agoJust in case you or another reader isn’t aware: Eternity is available in an alternative app repository that can be added to F-Droid in the settings.
This repo, as stated in the description, takes released built by the developers instead of building them directly.
Still looking forward to the official F-Droid release of course :)

15·2 years agoDer Text zeigt einige wichtige Punkte auf, aber wäre so viel besser, wenn er vor dem Putsch geschrieben wäre. So entsteht der Eindruck, als würden sich die Putschisten auch nur einen deut um anti-imperialistische oder irgendwie afrikanisch-basisdemokratische Belange scheren, statt um den eigenen Machterhalt. Wie man es ja am Anführer der Putschisten, dem Chef der Präsidentengarde, der mutmaßlich ersetzt werden sollte, sehen kann.
Und der Kommentar zum Ukraine-Krieg ist natürlich auch Quatsch. Sonneborn halt.

61·2 years agoIt’s “Nigerien”, and given that this decision was made by a unelected coup leader, I’d doubt you’d have much say in the matter as a Nigerien.

Könntest du das Mal anhand einer durchschnittlichen Woche von dir konkretisieren? Gerade wenn du normalerweise nicht aufs die Preise achtest.
I generally agree with you that conscription is worth less than it was in the 60s because of technological advances. But my takeaway from the war and subsequent mobilization in Ukraine is that “grunts” still play an important role in wars.
Let’s take your example. Without a sufficient number of grunts between your artillery piece and the enemy, it will constantly be pushed back, because the enemy places 10 grunts on a BRT to close the 40km distance. Anti-tank weapons and drones can help, but they might dismount and proceed.
Drones made the battlefield even more terrifying for individual soldiers, but I think in the next year’s we will see more anti-drone weapons and maybe even counter-(intercepting) drones.

The war in Ukraine shows that the professionals of any army are usually out of action within the first 3-6 months, and after that you either have a mobilized army of people who have held a gun before and moved as a squad, or you have to teach them even that.
