Honestly, you both sound like you have some maturing to do. She’s got insecurity/jealousy/stalkerish problems, and you’re acting like you have something to hide (dodging her questions was your first mistake).
Based on your description, you didn’t do anything wrong in your previous relationship. You don’t need to hide or act like it’s retroactive cheating.
By the same token, your girlfriend needs to learn to not ask questions when she doesn’t actually want to hear the answers.
I’d suggest that you give her a bit more space. Give her time to miss you and to get over herself.
Don’t be so proud of that technological terror. The ability to destroy your face is insignificant next to the power of the Force.
Good human!
Hmm, that could be a hook. Join the army and get the shot, or live a “safer” life with the natural span.
Still, I’m not sure that conscription policies make for stronger armies. I’d need to see receipts on that one.
Fair enough! In turn, I’m speaking from experience of driving mostly in the Minneapolis area. The highways are probably a bit more constricted than what you’re used to.
I have an easier time picturing what you’re saying when I think about driving 50-200 miles away from the city. More hills, more curves, better visibility.
I’m not sure about your premise. Will a longevity vaccine ensure a healthy population? Will it ensure a large pool of army recruits?
I’d almost expect the opposite, with a lower birthrate and a smaller proportion of the population being kids. Are you going to rush to have kids if you expect to live forever? Are you going to volunteer for the army as readily if the only causes of death are 1. combat deaths and 2. car accidents?
Thanks, that means a lot, coming from the Poisoner of Doma!
I think you misunderstand me. I’m not talking about tailgating. I’m following at a reasonable distance given the traffic. I just can’t see past the giant SUV because it’s too tall. If I’m behind a sedan in the same areas, it’s no problem at all.
If you’re suggesting that I’m following too close until I can see the sedan in front of the giant SUV…I think I’d be maintaining a 1/4 mile following distance.
In general, I do agree with the principle of looking far ahead so you’re ready to react.
Fair enough. I was getting “run through the stop sign if you think you can get away with it” vibes, but it sounds like that’s not what you actually do.
As a rider, my nightmare is cars running me over just to be ornery.
As a driver, my nightmare is hitting cyclists who aren’t following traffic rules.
In both cases, I’m always disappointed at how many people – in both roles! – ignore traffic rules.
People talk about the peace and quiet, but…
My grandparents used to live out in the country. Simple little house on a lake. When I’d visit, it wasn’t actually quiet – I’d always hear at least one neighbor across the lake mowing lawn, running a weed whipper, etc.
Maybe you’d get some true quiet in a more isolated part of the country? I’m not sure anymore. Motor sound carries.
This hits home. 10 years ago, Netflix was great! It had this huge catalog, so you could easily find something to watch.
Then, bit by bit, they started losing shows. I’d start hearing from friends “Hey, you should check xyz out” – not available for streaming.
By time I dropped my subscription in 2019, there wasn’t much I was still interested in. I think the last show I had watched was The Crown, and there was a long delay between seasons on that one, IIRC.
Traffic has a lot to do with living in the city. I’m about 6 miles away from major destinations downtown. I mostly work remote, but when I go into the office, it’s about 7 miles away in one of the suburbs.
“What about the bus?” you might ask. Well, around here that’s kind of a sick joke. It works OK for commuting – but it turns my 15 minute drive into an hour on the bus with at least one transfer. And what if I’m trying to go to a party that a friend is hosting in the suburbs? In many cases, I’d have to arrange to stay overnight because bus service to that area just stops until morning.
I’d suggest stopping at stop signs regardless of whether a car driver is trying to wave you through.
This is a good practice in addition to not tailgating, but it falls apart in cases where you’re behind an ugly SUV that blocks your view of what’s ahead :(
Do you think you’re the only American in this thread?
IDK about Chicago, but it wasn’t true for me in 2019 in Minneapolis. I did manage to find a house, but yikes, what a rollercoaster that was! Definitely not ‘easy’ by any stretch.
You’re looking at it backwards. Nobody is saying that it’s bad to help your family succeed. They’re saying that it’s fucked up that the only way gen-Z adults can afford homes is for their parents to pay their way.
Extreme solution: Just start blocking everyone who posts a Trump post.
I love her, judging or no
