That is my main beef with this particular hype train. People will be negatively effected by it, who had no choice in it. With the NFT hype a few years ago nobody was impacted unless they chose to dive into that area.

Given enough time, this hype will blow over
I tend to agree; however, during that time plenty of folks will be let go by middle management buying into the hype.
Same with Windows XP tablet edition. Windows phone. I’m glad they stuck it out with Xbox.
StackOverflow solved this specific issue pretty well IMO. Each downvote costs you a reputation/karma/fake-internet-point. Lemmy doesn’t count karma, so that’d a bit of a nonstarter, but for systems that do, that feels like a good way to discourage rampant use of downvotes.
I’ve had this idea as well, and I definitely see some benefits though as stated in the thread by someone else, most admins would want to be on a groups instance and not a users instance and I’m not sure how to combat that. The thought that occurred to me was a lemmy federation compatible community only instance server that could augment the current thrediverse landscape. Essentially making it easier to spin up a community for your topic than it is to spin up a while new instance. It would still be easiest to just make a community on your main user instance but it would introduce a new difficulty level for communities to run separate without standing up a whole Lemmy instance.
Not a fair comparison because they were also smoking and drinking at half-time when the were still wearing leather gear.
Even Blinken would have been offended at this awkward letter-boxing. But a-plus for the epic movie reference.
Back on reddit, there was at least one sub dedicated to memes I between just a single division (nfcnorthmemewar, or something close) and it was always hilarious. Definitely miss the regular sub and the meme subs here.
Proton docs works on android as a web view. The drive app launches the web editor in a web view control. It works well enough, but it’s not standard notes.
Adam Savage likes them so much he has at least one maybe two videos on his channel dedicated to them.
The fact they’re disposable mechanical pencils annoys me, but they are decent writers with a good eraser. You can buy them in packs of 20 for a few bucks.
Lemmy got me good today:
Not using JavaScript doesn’t ensure an accessible site or app.
I don’t remember progressive web apps having anywhere near the level of fanfare as the other things on this list, and as someone that has built several pwas I feel their usefulness is undervalued.
More apps in the app store should be pwas instead.
Otherwise this list is great and I love it.
This is true, but it’s more than the economy. While driving is a privilege, we’ve created a world where living without it is incredibly difficult and in some cases impossible. While it could hurt the economy it also starts to become a cruel and unusual punishment, even though it shouldn’t be it is due to the car centric environment society has created.
LA LA, LA LA LA, LA LA, LA LA LA
This isn’t problem too. If I have a couple things, fine self checkout might be better, but every store has replaced most of the regular lanes with self lanes and more often than not I have an order of sufficient size that the hassle of self checkout isn’t worth it for exactly the reasons you state. Code doesn’t scan, items being moved or bagged too soon or too late. Also the speed at which the scanners work is awful. I’ve worked as a cashier, and the scanning didn’t have any delay between items, but the self checkout is rate limited to an asinine level that, going back to my opening point, is frustrating for anything other than a few items.
And folks wonder why parents these days are so old. Earning potential to afford daycare in the first place.
Since the flow regulators became standard issue in the 90s, showers are not as good as they were. While the specific messaging may or may not have another meaning related to us politics, it seems like they stand for better showers while using less water, and that seems like a good mission to me.
That’s basically the way interurban trains operated for years before the highway system and personal vehicles replaced that mode of transport. It wasn’t solar powered back then, but the idea makes a lot of sense.
The problem with human curated lists is that in order to block bots everything will require an account to access. That’s the real tragedy here.
