Why track and field events not games? They have rules, can be won or lost, and can be played casually if you think that is a requirment.

Take shot put, hammer throw, and javelin, for example. The game is who can throw the object in a certain way the furtherest. I could play a shot put game with some friends at a river bank by drawing a line in the sand and seeing who can huck the heaviest rock on the shore the furthest.

Really any activity with some structure is a game if it is play and not “real”, even better if it can help practice a skill useful in life. There is a difference between a running race (a game) and running for your life from a bear (not a game). Between MMA and a street fight. Between war games and a shooting war.

You can extend or contract “game” as much as you want, but I can’t think of a definition of game that would encompass all sports but not all athletic competitions (if there really is a difference).

This result has probably been priced in since it hit the current floor in March. The bump after the report is likely because there were no bombshells in it. In California (see the plates on the car) there is almost nowhere you can get a sunrise over the ocean without seeing land on the other side across the bay or whatever. There are a couple spots where if the sun was as far south as it gets in winter then you might be able to get a shot with no land across the water. But this is almost surely not one of those.

This is a sign that there are extremely right safety standards and lots of oversight. The amount of documentation needed for all aerospace parts means it is quite difficult to falsify records for long without getting caught. The fact that any of these types of event are big news and often result in arrests should help you be confident that the standards are real and enforced. There will always be bad actors, and finding them like this is part of reality. Just look at the safety record of commercial aviation to see proof that the system is working.

That’s kind of how HMOs like Kaiser work. They are really good at dealing with issues that could get severe. But things that are not going to turn into something that will cost them money they don’t really do a good job at, such as mental health care. All political systems exist on some type of multi-dimensional spectrum. Left-right is just one axis, and kind of a made up one where they mean different things sometimes. The authoritarian axis is a real one, and fascism sits on the same end of that axis as so-called “communism”. This doesn’t make them equivalent, but it does mean that they both have some characteristics which are the same and bad. I’m fact, one could argue that their position on the authoritarian axis is all that you need to argue they are bad because authoritarianism is in itself the cause of so much human suffering.
