I’m reading Generation Kill. I don’t usually go for nonfiction but it offers some fascinating insight into the US right after 9/11 and the subsequent war. There are definitely some bits where I feel like the author is embellishing some, but overall quite interesting.

I know that’s not 100% mass shootings, but that’s still a stunningly bleak number. Rounding up from the .97 that’s five human lives every hour of 2023 up to July.
I like Summit best of the three apps I’ve tried (Lemmy and Thunder being the other two). It’s a pretty bare bones layout and style of navigation, which I prefer.
As for missing reddit, well… it seems like most of the community spirit/attitude was slipping away following the API changes. I’m hoping to find it again here and I like what I see so far!
