no you don’t 😜
I’m also here:
no you don’t 😜
people who use LLMs as search engine make me go 😨
my colleagues are doing it too, and I just want to yell at them that LLMs have no idea about reality, they will confidently tell you to eat glue
had to look it up, 1996, damn that’s an old game xd

Oh I forgot about Oxenfree. Yeah, the story and voice acting were quite good, but the game had so many annoying design/UI decisions that it left me frustrated more than anything else :c
Gone Home - when I finished the game I was legitimately sad that I couldn’t spend more time with the people whose lives I got to know so intimately from their environments. And yes, they didn’t feel like characters anymore, they felt like actual people. That’s one of the highest praises I can give to a game’s storytelling.
It’s a reference to this quote:
“John Steinbeck once said that socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” ― Ronald Wright, A Short History of Progress (source)
Edit: apparently the original John Steinbeck quote was:
“I guess the trouble was that we didn’t have any self-admitted proletarians. Everyone was a temporarily embarrassed capitalist.”
Is that an HBomberGuy reference? 👀
Makes sense! I hope it won’t get enshittified now that Canva bought them.
Thanks, glad to hear the alternatives work for her! Does she use FLOSS ones (Inkscape, Scribus, GIMP, Krita, etc.) or Affinity’s programs?
Thanks, that’s interesting to hear! Can I ask what sort of graphic design she does?
My work primarily involves CMYK publications made in InDesign, using graphics made in Illustrator and Photoshop. So inter-operability and compatibility with professional CMYK printing are key for my needs.
Honestly nah, there are lots of other good options.
Unfortunately as someone who uses Adobe programs for work, the FLOSS alternatives are just not there yet :/ (especially considering how seamlessly Adobe programs work together)
What, I use Excel daily and love it 😄
if you poke around graphic design as a hobby, these might be fine, but not for professional use from what I’ve read :/
e.g. apparently Inkscape still can’t really do CMYK
I used Feedly for many years, but recently switched to Newsblur, and I love that it lets me filter out posts by tags or keywords, finally don’t have to use external tools for it.
it was a similar article that made me switch from Brave to Ungoogled Chromium a few weeks ago, as a backup browser for the handful of sites that don’t work in Firefox.
this meme was my Facebook profile cover for a while 😁
Why not? I still look up information there too, but I use an adblocker, so it’s not like Spez is profiting from me.
If you don’t want to give them traffic, you can always visit the search result URL through the Wayback Machine or Archive.today.
Yeah, I still regularly visit Reddit because communities related to my specific games (GW2, Genshin) or countries (UK, Hungary) seem rather dead on Lemmy.
Also more story-based forums like AITA, TIFU or HobbyDrama, and of course my favourite, BestOfRedditorUpdates (whose Lemmy equivalent would need several active story-based communities to curate from).
Still a long way to go for Lemmy to completely replace Reddit for me 😮💨
