So let me get this straight. A dude with no record and a judge order to prevent deportation, who didn’t resist law enforcement during his kidnapping, gets whisked away to a torture prison without pause, but a dude breaks a pig’s nose and gets to remain in the States? What incentive is there NOT to go down with the most violence you can against the abductors? When tRump is finally removed from power, hopefully with a hanging for treason, I hope the next president pardons people like Hector Villegas-Alvarez.

I’m so glad we couldn’t fund all those aid programs with the money already set aside under the guise of cOsT sAvInGs so they still ended up increasing spending. Can we start asking them when they’ll start hiring all the people back since we can now see how inefficient this administration is. I know the answer to that but one can only dream.

My issue anymore is not with paying taxes, it’s how disproportionately they are applied across income brackets. In IL, we have some of the highest property taxes in the States, yet our schools are still needing to cut back on music and art programs I grew up experiencing because they don’t have enough funding and test scores didn’t care if you can play the cello. The roads and their platforms of potholes are a minefield, public places are rusting and falling apart, and we’re being told that there’s just no money and that austerity is the only way to make anything work, now.

No, austerity is not the only way if the rich paid their taxes. Righting this ship, this far after Reagan gutted most social safety nets and hamstrung a lot of programs aimed at helping anyone but the rich, is going to be extremely difficult until the geriatric boomers, who refuse to leave positions of power, left or are removed. Until (and if it’s even possible now) we get back to that level of taxation of wealth, we will never have the life they tell us we get to live nor the world we want to raise a family in.

What is brain scarring? I’m 40 and was diagnosed with ADHD at 37 or 38. Where I used to be passionate about things, that spot has been filled with passive suicidality. No matter what, I can’t seem to will myself to do anything anymore. Habits I know will help me seem to fizzle before I can feel better doing them.

Having ADHD sucks for getting tasks done, but when the whole process of bettering yourself or your surroundings feels pointless, the only result is to wait to die, I guess. I hate this world.

First, any veteran worth their weight in salt know they aren’t some sort of Messiah for the people. Those of us that served, myself included, joined and did our jobs to protect others; family, friends, communities, and country. Only those veterans with selfish intentions would hold a private business in less regard for refusing service to anyone they are legally able to refuse service to.

Second, this is about uniformed police, not veterans. Those two things are not synonymous. Veterans, the ones I mentioned in the first paragraph, don’t feel the need to walk around with their dicks guns out to buy a bagel. I’m not sure if you are conflating them out of ignorance or a misunderstanding.
