  • I was just experimenting haha. The coffee was surprisingly pretty good actually. With this, bypass was minimal. Agitation was also minimal because of using the melodrip. So brew water need to go through the thick coffee bed.

Minor downside would be that it’s pretty hard to get a perfect seal with the aeropress filter. So there was a small amount of silt in the cup. Drawdown time was longer too.

Orea makes coffee brewers. The most popular model currently has 3 iterations.

It’s a flat bottom brewer with steep walls and massive holes at the bottom. It accepts kalita wave filter or negotiated paper filters for low bypass brewing.

Not easy to justify the price though. I got the v3 secondhand, so it was a little bit cheaper.

  • If you don’t want to wait, I can highly recommend getting the Hario Switch. The cone brewer is made of glass, and you can make 450gr of coffee in one go (with the Switch 03). Possibly more of you use multiple big pours, but I haven’t tried it myself.

It’s a more versatile brewer IMO. You can be very creative with the immersion and percolation stages.
