You just said you’ve never used a Steam Deck. Multiple people have told you why what you’re saying is ridiculous.
What more elaboration are you looking for?

I don’t know why I’m being downvoted; I literally have no idea what I’m talking about
This update is what made me setup a recurring donation.
It’s not even a majority of people.
It is false that 90% of the people you’ve met like Hitler.
If that’s what you need to tell yourself.
We’re only talking about hosting because you offered it up as a way of accessing it for “free”.
If you want to use Google, you have to pay the same as for using Lemmy, or searxNG, zero.
Nope. With Google, you pay with your data. With Lemmy or SearxNG, you pay with money, or you enjoy the benefits of socializing the cost (just like “free” healthcare)
Neither are free.
So I’d have to spend money on additional equipment, is what you’re saying.
Which is not true of using Google.
Get it yet?
You could dislike both.
One follows the other.
“All but guaranteed” doesn’t mean “not guaranteed”. It means it’s so close to being guaranteed that it may as well be guaranteed – it has everything but the formal guarantee.
It’s neither. That’s a Roland TB-3 synthesizer the dog is playing, and there’s another synth in the background.
Surely hosting Google search is more expensive than hosting Lemmy when you’re insinuating otherwise?
You’ve got it backwards.
How do I host Lemmy on my iPhone? How do I host it on a Library computer?
Don’t run it on a raspberry pi, run it on the same computer you use to access the Google search you are happy to call “free”.
Because you think hosting Lemmy yourself is the same monetary cost as doing a Google search.
And yet you can’t fathom the difference between hosting and maintaining something, versus consuming something.
You really only think in black and white, huh?
Sad.
And yet you have no issue with the repetitive comment asking for a source instead of taking 3 seconds to Google. Isn’t that weird?
“Ed is the standard text editor.”
My computer isn’t free, nor is my internet connection, nor is my electricity.
When did I call Google searches “free”?
As someone else pointed out, you’re basically calling a PS5 difficult because it runs BSD and that must mean people need to tinker and use the terminal to make things work.
