Twitter-style seems to make sense if you’re a public figure or an organization. As a private individual it doesn’t make as much sense unless all you want to do is follow the people/orgs you’re interested in. I tend to use the Lemmy/Reddit model way more.

Yeah discoverability is an issue I have as well. Also, feel it’s an issue on mastodon too.

For now, I just browse All and see what communities pop up. Or, I do searches for topics I’m interested in. Lemmy is still fairly new so, niche communities don’t always have the biggest followings.

Haha, I had actually been wanting to leave, but I had a feeling that a layoff might happen and I wanted that severance. So, I spent all my spare time interview prepping and waiting. Sure enough, we were laid off and I was primed to interview immediately.
