What site isn’t an ajax site these days?!
I try things on the internet.
rarely, shit just works.
What site isn’t an ajax site these days?!
You mispelled “dumb”. We aren’t dumb enough to be a police officer.
You mispelled “cowardly”. We aren’t cowardly enough to stand outside of buildings while lifes are endanger.
It doesn’t take much bravery to stand outside a school and watch kids get shot.
All Cats Are Beautiful but All Cops Are Bastards.
too much collodial silver = any amount of collodial silver.
Following distance should be 1 car length for every 10mph you are travelling. 70 mph would mean 7 car lengths.
Ok, so you are actually new to the internet. I’ll explain, human to human, human.
A domain name like reddit.com or katcr.co is a registration someone gets for a period of time, at least 1 year but sometimes more than a year. One year, a user can purchase katcr.co and put up their personal website, because their name is Kat Crosby, and they are a company - katcr.co fits so they buy it and put up a site for a year or two. Life happens and they abandon the site. The domain becomes available again. Someone purchases katcr.co and makes a cookie business for a few years, abandoning the site. Someone else buys it later when it’s available and makes a bittorrent site out of it, runs it for a few years. the domain gets siezed and they can no longer use that domain. The katcr.co domain becomes available again. no one buys it.
Someone said they used to go to katcr.co years ago, someone else chimes in and says “that site doesn’t exist, you’re a liar”, and then someone with more understanding of the internet sends an archive.org link.
Why archive.org? It’s the only site that does this thing.
What is the thing it does? It will, and has over the years visited websites and saved snapshots of it. Archiving it, if you will. You can then go to web.archive.org and enter the domain name of any site and it will send you to the link you’ve been given a few times. This link is to a page that shows all the times archive.org has captured a snapshot of that link. It allows you to view that page (usually just text, usually missing a lot of content like images and external files) as it was at that time.
In this case, the existence of the link immediately disproves your argument.
In other words, you’re entirely wrong. Both about katcr.co being fake because it’s currently not online, and also about me being a bot.
That’s not now the internet works. There was something there. See: https://web.archive.org/web/20230000000000*/katcr.co
This is an interesting idea. So if I’m understanding you correctly the workflow would be like this:
user uploads 4 images… 2 are flagged as CSAM.
user overwrites the flag on one image, asserting that “no, this isn’t CSAM”
in other sites, I’ve seen this work by the content remaining hidden except for the user until a team reviews it. If the team agrees, it’s allowed on the site. I think this is different from what you are describing though. I think you’re suggesting that the content stay online after the user overwrites the flagging, but then a mod will later double-check to see if the user was indeed trustworthy.
I only worry that an untrustworthy user will keep the content online until a mod reviews it, increasing the time the material is online and increasing the risk. It would be difficult to argue that “this was done in the interest of user satisfaction, even though it means that more CSAM got out”. Ultimately I don’t know how many people want to argue that to a judge.
Lemmy admins need to do whatever it is they can to handle CSAM if and when it arises. Users need to be understanding in this because as I’ve argued in other threads, CSAM itself poses a threat to the instance itself, as it poses a threat to the admins if they cannot clean up the material in a timely manner.
This is going to likely get weird for a bit, including but not limited to:
I just want folks to know that major sites like reddit and facebook usually have (not very well) paid teams of people who’s sole job is to remove this material. Lemmy has overworked volunteers. Please have patience, and if you feel like arguing about why any of the methods I mentioned above are BS or have any questions reply to this message.
I’m not an admin, but I’m planning on being one and I’m sort of getting a feel for how the community responds to this sort of action. We don’t get to see it a lot in major social media sites because they aren’t as transparent (or as understaffed) as lemmy instances are.
How were you able to post this comment? Did you use any technology to do so? Any devices or equipment? Did you or someone else buy those devices or equipment? Are you, right now, in the process of consuming this content via your consumption of this technology and these devices?
Hypothetically, if everyone decided right now to stop buying as much as possible, it would take years of companies continuing to manufacture and try to push these items on us. that’s also a lot to consider that everyone could drastically change their lifestyle like this. What would an in-between look like? If we are currently buying phones as they come out, and on the other extreme, we could just all use ham radio to talk to one another using a station that we maintained over our lifetime, I imagine an in-between might be buying a phone and using it well past it’s planned lifetime if possible via rooting and trying to install a light-weight OS.
People need to eat and live in shelter to survive. Living off the land requires owned land to live off of. Some of the things we want to buy and use are the things that make life easier or worth living.
Generally speaking, the DSM classifies things as “Disorders” if they affect your ability to function day to day. It’s language that helps justify accomodations to employers and to otherwise justify that help is needed.
This reminds me of expertsexchange
why not both?
Caution about using stress as a stimulant. Sometimes life gets stressful, then you have stress on stress on stress. Or maybe that’s just me
I only recently was able to work at a place that got good enough health insurance to afford vyvanse. It was still something that I needed to try the generic, and insurance-preferred drugs first like Adderall XR but once I tried it and mentioned that it didn’t work so well, I could get the Vyvnase Rx filled. $30 copay instead of $10 but well worth it. Generally, the only reason for this is because there’s no generic. So hopefully with the generic coming soon more adhd folks could try this.
I too wish I didn’t have to take meds. I wish my brain just worked the way it should. The thing about ADHD is though you’re already likely finding your own stimulants or stimuli. Kids with ADHD unknowningly self-medicate with sugar. Actually, Dr. Russell Barkley also mentions that if you have ADHD and you aren’t medicated and you want to have your brain work a little better for a short duration, you can sip (he emphases slowly sip) on a sugary beverage such as a soda. Liquified sugar passes the blood-brain barrier faster than solid sugars would in the stomach. Sugar itself lights up similar pathways in the brain as cocaine.
There are other forms of stimulation besides drugs but the intention of the drugs is to provide a baseline level of stimulation so that you don’t need to seek out your own stimulation (or, not as much of it). It’s such a strange thing to explain to people, but in order for me to concentrate on what someone is saying, I need to be doing something else at the same time.

Concerta isn’t a stimulant. And if adderall isn’t allowed in your country, vyvanse likely will also not be available. Both adderall and vyvanse are amphetamines/ mixed amphetamine salts. The other option for stimulant meds is Ritalin which is Methylphenidate. In the US, doctors can technically prescribe methamphetamine but it is very rare if ever prescribed because it isn’t as good of an adhd med.
As far as a window for effect, the deug works something like 12 to 18 hours, which is perfect for me because I need it to do housework, work a d housework when I am home.
(paraphrased from memory, not verbatim) Adhd is a genetic condition which warrants genetic therapy. Stimulants work well for this but they only work while it is in the bloodstream.
– Dr. Russel Barkley, paraphrased from one of talks on adhd
Personally different stimulants have different effects on different people. On Ritalin I am super chatty but cannot focus. On adderall/vyvanse I am not always chatty but I can focus. The generic of vyvanse is supposed to be out soon and if anyone is looking for all day meds but want something a little more gentle than the come up of adderall definitely talk to your doc. Tangent, but vyvanse has an interesting delivery mechanism: its a prodrug that turns into a stumulant in your GI tract. As such, it uses your digesting of food throughout the day to produce more stimulant. One advantage of vyvanse is that it cannot get you high if it is snorted (which helps alleviate the concern of abuse) because it must be made into a stimulant in your body. The big problem with vyvanse for a while has been that it’s non-generic and something like $400 a month if paid out of pocket.
