There is no “algorithm” on Lemmy. One of the reasons why I like it. No tracking in the typical sense. Simply subscribe to communities which you want to see, then browse “Subscribed”. Alternatively, some people like to browse “All” and block any content they do not wish to see. Me personally, a mixture of both. Every now and then I scroll “All” to find new communities to subscribe to. Hope this helps :D.

Be the change you want to see. Post more often etc. Content isn’t farmed the way it was on Reddit. There are no ads and no corporation pushing content. Sad truth is there aren’t many people on Lemmy, and it is going to take a while to gain any major growth in userbase, if at all. All we can do is be resilient and try to create meaningful content, and hope people gradually start joining, to the point where niche communities start being filled.

The only issues I had with dual booting is an out of sync clock (due to Windows using local time), and Windows wiped one of my Linux drives (I installed Windows second, so unplug any unused drives before installing Windows). The last issue I am still unsure what caused it, however I remember installing Windows and the next time I use Linux the drive is empty.

It already did this, I’m guessing based on subscriptions or something, but as others have mentioned they probably have my history anyway. It’s honestly less about the fact that I can’t get recommendations and more about the fact that they are trying to force people to turn on history. But tbh even without this I am happy to have found a federated version similar to Lemmy.
