  • I’m trying to be as gentle and understanding of her as possible but it all comes down to her having issues with immaturity around relationships and trust issues.

First she went looking for trouble by stalking. Then she found media if your previous relationship by accident. Then she refuses to participate in healthy and reasonable discussion.

I’m trying to find a way that she’s not at fault, but this is all her fault.

You are allowed to have had a life prior to meeting her, just as she’s allowed to have had a life before you.

You will also have a life after each other.

If she can’t put her big girl pants on and discuss an issue between immediately and 24 hours then that’s bad behaviour on her part.

Far as I can see she’s not yet mature enough to be in a relationship, and that’s on her.

I don’t know what you held back when she asked about your previous relationship, it might have been things that you’re very much entitled to hold back… it not. You may or may not owe an apology for this, but she sure owes you an apology for her shitty behaviour.

  • If I had a dollar for everytime someone said Linux isn’t bad now is be living on Mars.

What you’re really saying is your needs are simple and you’ve managed to get what you need.

This does not translate to everyone as others might have more complex needs than you.

TrackIR is still a nightmare on Linux, and searching for help with that reveals about 10 situations where no one got a good result and one person who seemingly got lucky.

Another issue is MS Office. Formatting and macros get broken by FOSS alternatives so don’t even go there.

There are at least a dozen more issues (NVIDIA, difficult hardware etc …).

Suffice to say everytime someone pops up saying it works now just starts looking silly.

Until we get native support and better documentation and testing Linux is still an outlier for anything more than basic productivity or gaming in a bubble.

  • Same issue here, and I know a few people that have it on most cases LCD, not OLED, but I funny think that’s relevant.

The mechanism for turning a display off is to simply stop sending a signal.

There was a time when I cared more and actually did into it and windows 10 and 11 do have issues going into standby in in some configurations, with some hardware.

I once pinned down a console command that could actually tell you (cryptically of course) what things were going on that prevented standby or sleep.

Comes as no surprise that Linux does this better… But sadly I’m my case I couldn’t use Linux.

So here I am near Melbourne Australia… Scrolling Lemmy at 11:08pm with my girlfriend drifting off to sleep next to me and I see this and think… The more I look at her the prettier she gets… I nudge my gf and say you need to see this. She says “is it a cat?” I say “yeah”. She rolls over and I hold the phone over her face and she literally says out loud.

“Awww; the more you look at her the prettier she gets”

    Did anyone else think this?

    OP… enjoy your companion!
