I don’t think they have the overwhelming firepower for that, but one can hope! F-16s will certainly be a help.

We already have newer and safer designs using water as a moderator. The problem is none of them have been built in a long, long time.
Hopefully it will be in range of HIMARS soon anyway.
I changed “lifetime” transmission oil in my MT after 100k miles & it came out looking the same as the new stuff going in.
On the flip side, every AT I have owned had some nasty looking fluid coming out after ~40k miles (?… it has been a while, so I don’t remember the exact service interval)
I agree with you that electrics are fun, but driving around a manual shitbox can be a lot of fun, too!
I don’t really agree with the OC that fun driving is “over,” but different strokes for different folks! (For the record, I haven’t found a powered vehicle that I don’t enjoy to some extent)
Just hang in there! It’s not that bad once you get the hang of using the handbrake. It helps when you have the same car while you’re learning.
Thanks!
They were in the wrong and the destruction of the USSR was a tragedy.
I think this is just a matter of perspective, and we’re going to disagree.
I would love to hear more - this article is pretty light on substance.
You must have forgotten about the Cold War. The US Military designed and built almost everything that has been sent over so far for a conflict with Russia.
I feel like we are way off topic now, and you seem to be defending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. What exactly is your point here?
You got an audible laugh out of me for this comment! 😂
My point was that mechanical sabotage probably wouldn’t have this failure mode without major and obvious impacts to the engine. The engine shroud is generally designed to contain the turbine blades in cases of catastrophic failure.
For something of this magnitude to happen and survive takeoff stresses, my money is on some type of explosive.
On August 25, 2023, a plane crash occurred in Zhytomyr Region. During a combat mission, two L-39 aircraft collided in the sky. Three pilots died. Among the dead is a pilot with the call sign “JUICE”.
How are they using L-39’s in combat?
Having an engine explode in that way would be highly unusual. Modern jet engines are extremely reliable when cared for properly (and typically have safe failure modes - go check out the “bird ingestion” tests on YouTube).
I’m not an expert, but I would definitely agree at minimum some form of tampering & likely an explosive was involved.
Welcome to the internet!
I do think social media (or becoming a carrier of other people’s data) is incredibly difficult. How do you moderate? How much liability do you take on? etc. I’m very interested to see how this gets tackled over time in the Fediverse.
That’s interesting about Saudi’s Arabia, but their economy has most definitely taken a hit. It’s easy to fluff market numbers when you aren’t allowed to sell stocks. Just look at the most recent ruble prices.
Not well, but the US wasn’t exactly there to liberate Afghanistan…
I did want to also follow up that selling weapons to the Ukrainian people is a huge win for them. They are in desperate need of them to defend their land. I’m not sure how I missed this in my first response 😂
Totally agree. It could have even been a black project by Germany to quickly distance from reliance on Russian! Think of how long the beaurocratic process would have been to do the same 😂
Is there a summary of design changes from Flight 1 anywhere?
