Yay for Fri. Supposed to be going on a boat trip to Tipplers on Straddie today. It got cancelled yesterday due to the weather. I had a look and at one point it predicted storms, unsure what the forecast is currently. Bummer. So here I am at the ferry terminal at 4:10 am on my way to work instead. Bummer.
Also the “2 hour” online induction yesterday took 3 and a half hours which wasn’t the best thing I’ve done ever. I did it on a laptop at work at least so I shouldn’t complain.
I have now booked an online home builders course so I’ll hopefully have a go at that this weekend. You see ads for them saying they can be done in 3 hours, I’m not convinced.
Well, 6 hours on Fridays, 12 o’clock knock off which is pretty sweet. Half an hour paid smoko at 10:30 also, pretty sweet. So yay for Friday. Hope all our days go well.
I do so many inductions that I pretty much just skip to the end as fast as possible and do the “test”. Here’s my number one pro tip: The correct answer in any induction is always the longest one.
Q. Bob is on fire. Do you: A1) Run away screaming, A2) Throw your bottle of water at Bob, A3) Complete a JSA, ATCW, SWMS and liaise with your site contact to ensure all relevant permits and procedures have been documented. Once approval has been given to complete the task, plan a safety briefing with Bob and discuss methods to mitigate risk. Complete your Take 5 and complete additional permits. Arrange for hot work permit (NOTE: hot work permits require a minimum of 48 hours and must be submitted prior to site attendance). Provide proof of competency to hold a fire extinguisher prior to sourcing fire extinguisher. Check expiry date of cylinder and check safety log to ensure fire extinguisher has been tested within testing period. Follow manufacturers instruction to point fire extinguisher at Bob and spray charred carcass. Sign off permits. A4) Go home early.
Lol and oh fuck yes you have done many inductions obviously. Thanks for the laugh.
I’ve done two million construction site inductions, but this big boys stuff is new to me. Bloody boring and tiring for sure. Here’s hoping I don’t have to squirt Bob anytime soon.
