In case anyone didn’t read the article and are unsure like I was, these are women running their own fishing vessels and so that they aren’t forced into a position where they must trade sex for a supply of fish to sell, they are NOT promoting fish abstinence.
The name is awkwardly close to one of my favorite podcasts and I was afraid there was some sort of horrible scandal involving them.
Reading the term “fish abstinence” just coughed up this medieval carricature from the back of my mind

My first thought was that it was a group of women who had it out for dudes with fishing profile photos on Tinder. Cuz many guys never take selfies, so in many cases their only decent photos are when they’re holding up a fish.
