Hello everyone!
Based on our last discussion about the future branding of the app, we’ve reached the pivotal moment of choosing its new name. Thank you all for the great ideas and feedback. Here’s a vote on the shortlisted top 10 suggestions!
Here’s how the voting will work:
-
Below this post, you’ll find comments with each of the top 10 unique name suggestions from the previous thread.

If you’re passionate about a particular name, feel free to reply to that comment and share why.
The voting window will be open for one week (or until there’s an obvious winner). Once concluded, the name with the highest number of upvotes will be chosen.

A shoutout and thanks to @[email protected] for the original tally!
Just staying with Infinity for Lemmy is ignorant to the original dev.
Well that is not our problem. We can continue without them, that’s the idea behind free software. The software and name belong to everyone
Neither is it “your problem” if you steal apples from an old lady who grows them in her garden and sells them for dirt cheap in front of her house. Yet it is disrespectful and sort of inhumane (though the latter doesn’t totally carry over to an appname).
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should, and if you wanted to run the new project under the exact same name, you should at least get a green light of the original dev, the person who had the idea. Respecting intellectual property (not sure if the legal term applies here) is always good behaviour.
And it’s ignorant, and it makes the dev look shady.
But go ahead. Be shady, I guess.
