As cost-of-living pressures continue to climb, people are looking for creative ways to save. One method gaining popularity on social media is called "cash stuffing". It's a reinvention of the old envelope system our grandparents used to use, and it's bringing back the use of physical cash.
I am very much enjoying this cute phase Zoomers are going through at the moment where they “discover” things we all did 10 - 20 years ago and turn it into a social media trend. Like the dumb phone one that’s also happening at the moment, with some young people rejecting smartphones in favour of flip phones Millennials used in high school.
But in all seriousness, this is actually a useful life hack if you are trying to restrict spending or live on a budget.
Yea I Literally figured this system out on my own 20 years ago in high school… it’s called budgeting and I saved for specific things by putting them into separate accounts. I still don’t, but I also still let that money earn interest or invest it to keep growing somewhat.
Maybe one day they’ll learn the best way to save money is to spend less than you earn and pay off your bills in full every month too.

It is not their fault for not knowing, it is our fault for not teaching.
Maybe we just need to call it “budgeting hack”, not “financial planning”.
Yeah it’s a good method but the “envelope” budgeting systemn has existed for decades.
What is old is new again, just with bloat on top.

What is this sorcery?
It’s not sorcery, it’s life hacking.
